The festival of colours, Holi holds a special place in every Indian’s heart, as it is one of the most celebrated festivals in the country. Although in different parts of the country, we have different names for this festival, but the essence of it remains the same in all the communities. Just like everyone, Bollywood stars also wish their fans and people with beautiful Holi wishes. While some shared pictures from their Holi celebration, some post-fun-filled videos on social media.
Popular dancer and actress, Malaika Arora is one such celebrity, who wishes her massive fanbase of 17.4 million on all important festivals and occasions. However, it was her wish for Holi back in 2019 that brought her right to the centre of controversy. It was on March 21, 2019, when Malaika Arora took to her Instagram handle and posted a video to wish her massive fanbase on Holi. In the video, the actress can be seen donning a top and shorts as she flaunted different shoe colours and designs.

As soon as she uploaded the video, Malaika was heavily criticised for making fun of the Hindu festival, Holi, by wishing everyone with a brand video like this in which she was seen showing off her shoes. While one user commented, "Worst way of wishing Holi. At least leave the festivals alone if you don’t know the meaning of them." Another user pointed fingers at Malaika’s age and age-shamed her with a nasty comment that could be read as "This old lady is gone crazzzzzy..what’s she trying to show!?!? Grow up for God’s sake!!!! how cringy!!!!” Another netizen asked, “Jitna bada status utni choti soch. Holi ese wish karte hain joote dikha kar pagalpanti video."
However, this isn’t the only time when Malaika Arora was trolled for her way of wishing people on Holi. The netizens got offended once again when on March 27, 2021, Malaika posted a monochrome picture of herself. In the photo, Malaika can be seen using her smartphone while being slightly bent towards the grill of the balcony. Along with the picture, Malaika penned a note in the caption in which she wished her fans on Holi. Her note in the caption could be read as:
"Blending into the weekend! Wish you all a happy Holi in advance! Stay safe everybody! Stay home everybody!!"

Once again, netizens were absolutely furious seeing Malaika Arora’s Holi wish, as they speculated that the actress did such things in order to make fun of Hinduism. One user even commented, "Tum Bollywood wale hamesha Hindu culture ko kharab karne mein tule ho dum hai toh eid aur christmas mein apne insta mein iss tarah wish karna." So many netizens dropped nasty comments on Malaika’s post and schooled her about posing inappropriately in the picture. A user’s comment can be read as "Bum diggy diggy bum."
