Mamta Kulkarni's journey from being an ordinary girl to being one of the most successful actresses of her era is a story that needs no introduction. She made her acting debut with the film, Tirangaa back in 1992 and left the industry in the early 2000s after the release of Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum in 2002. In a career spanning just 12 years, Mamta Kulkarni achieved the success that many actresses of her era couldn't despite having a longer career than hers.
Despite coming from a non-film family, the way Mamta Kulkarni went on to dominate Hindi cinema with her aura is truly remarkable. The iconic actress appeared in a series of memorable films, including Sabse Bada Khiladi, Andolan, Baazi, China Gate, Waqt Hamara Hain, Krantiveer, Karan Arjun, Aashiq Awara, Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum, and many more. Even today, Mamta Kulkarni is considered as one of the most stunning actresses in the history of Hindi cinema.
However, not everyone is aware of the fact that despite being at the peak of her career in the early 2000s, she left the Hindi film industry in 2002. After leaving the Hindi film industry, she reportedly appeared in a Bangladeshi film titled Shesh Bongsodhar, which was officially the last film of her illustrious acting career. As per the reports, Mamta Kulkarni quit acting and left India due to personal and spiritual reasons.
Once, in an interview with IANS, Mamta Kulkarni revealed the reason behind her decision to leave India and why she disappeared for 24 years. The former actress shared that in 1996, she met Guru Gagan Giri Maharaj and developed a deep interest in spirituality. Due to her spiritual journey, she left Bollywood and started doing penance in Dubai. During her time in Dubai, she lived in a two-bedroom flat and remained celibate for 12 years.
The former actress, Mamta Kulkarni, returned to India in 2025 after a gap of 24 years to attend Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. She was named Maha Mandleshwar of Kinnar Akhada and even got a new name, 'Shri Yamai Mamta Nand Giri'. Besides her spiritual journey, Mamta Kulkarni's love life is another matter that has always remained in the headlines throughout her life. However, not everyone is aware of the fact that she never got married. Despite being one of her era's most successful and gorgeous actresses, she never got married.

For the unversed, Mamta Kulkarni met Vicky Goswami back in 1996, and they fell in love with each other. However, in 1997, Vicky was arrested in a drug case and was sent to jail for the next 12 years. When Vicky was in jail, several gossip columns reported that he got married to Mamta. However, in an interview with IANS, Mamta dismissed her wedding rumours with Vicky and revealed that she met him only once when the drug lord was in jail. She said:
"I met Vicky Goswami in 1996, and in 1997 he was arrested in a drugs case. He remained in jail for 12 years. During this time he asked to meet me, after which I met him once. I am not married to Vicky Goswami. I remained celibate for 12 years."
Further, in the same interview, Mamta Kulkarni opened up about her past relationship with Vicky Goswami and admitted that she was dating him. However, she also clarified that she couldn't move forward with her relationship with Vicky due to her strong inclination towards spirituality. She said:
"Yes, it is true that I was with Vicky Goswami and will always love him. However, everything ended due to my focus on spirituality."
For the uninitiated, due to her relationship with Vicky Goswami, Mamta Kulkarni was also allegedly accused in a Rs. 2,000 crore drug case back in 2016. However, it was in 2024 when the Bombay High Court announced a verdict on her case and dismissed all the criminal charges against the iconic actress due to insufficient evidence. Fast forward to 2025, and Mamta Kulkarni is enjoying her spiritual journey to the fullest.
