Mamta Kulkarni Called Sridevi And Rekha Cosmetic Beauties, Took A Dig At Pooja Bhatt And Raveena

Mamta Kulkarni made her acting debut in Hindi cinema with Mehul Kumar's blockbuster 1992 film, Tirangaa. She is often regarded as one of the most stunning actresses in the history of Hindi cinema, who attained huge success and fame through blockbuster commercial movies. Some of the most memorable films of Mamta Kulkarni's illustrious acting career in Bollywood include Waqt Hamara Hain, Krantiveer, Karan Arjun, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Andolan, Baazi, China Gate, Aashiq Awara, Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum, and many more.

Mamta Kulkarni once labelled Rekha and Sridevi as 'cosmetic beauties'

Not just acting, Mamta Kulkarni was also one of the finest dancers of her era. The iconic diva has also appeared in a series of timeless chartbusters that are played even today. Some of the most memorable songs that Mamta appeared in include Kitne Dino Ke Baad, Aayegi Har Pal Tujhe, Ek Munda, Jankaro Jankaro, Bhangda Pale, Bholi Bhali Ladki, Mujhko Rana Ji Maaf Karna, and many more. For the uninitiated, Mamata Kulkarni quit the Hindi film industry back in 2002 after the release of her last film, Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum.

At the peak of her acting career in Bollywood, Mamta Kulkarni was also renowned for her bold and unfiltered statements on complex topics during interviews. For instance, once in an old interview with Lehren, Mamta Kulkarni recalled her initial journey in the Hindi film industry.

Opening up about the same, Mamta Kulkarni shared that she was confident about her beauty and came into the industry on her face merit. She further went on to mention Rekha and Sridevi and labelled them as 'cosmetic beauties'. She said:

"First thing, you have to have a face. Some women don't have it. There were Sri (devi) and Rekha, who were totally cosmetic beauties, but they made it through somebody. Unke peechay koi tha, mere peechay koi nahi tha.(They had someone backing them)."

In the same interview with Lehren, Mamta Kulkarni opened up about her journey in Bollywood. The actress shared how she made her mark in Hindi cinema without having anyone's backing. However, she admitted that she came from a financially secure family, which is why she didn't go through any awkward situations during the initial phase of her acting career in Bollywood. 

Further, in the same interview, Mamta Kulkarni compared her journey with Raveena Tandon and Pooja Bhatt. The iconic actress clearly stated that while the two actresses had their fathers, Ravi Tandon and Mahesh Bhatt, to guide them, she didn't have anyone. Still, she managed to make her mark in the film industry. She also added that she wasn't aware which producer was of which grade, and she figured it out all by herself as time passed. She said:

"I didn’t have a filmy background. Aapne ye sawal pucha mere paas filmy background bilkul nahi thi. Like today there are there’s Raveena, she got a father, and Pooja (Pooja Bhatt) has a father. Then particularly kaisey baat karna hain. Ye sab kisi ne mujhe sikhaya nahin. I learnt on my own."

Mamta Kulkarni becomes Maha Mandleshwar, former actress got a new name 'Mai Mamta Nand Giri'

For the uninitiated, on January 24, 2025, acharya Mahamandleshwar of Kinnar Akhada, Laxmi Narayan, made a surprising announcement that created a stir in Bollywood.

The acharya also shared that the iconic Bollywood actress, Mamta Kulkarni has been appointed as the Maha Mandleshwar of the monastic order at the 2025 Maha Kumbh camp of the Kinnar Akhada. Later on the same day, Mamta performed pind daan at Prayagraj’s Sangam Ghat. She also got a new name after accepting such an esteemed position, and it is 'Mai Mamta Nand Giri'.
