Mamta Kulkarni Says SRK And Salman Khan Once 'Shut The Door' On Her Face, 'That Was It'

Mamta Kulkarni, who rose to fame in the 90s, quickly won the hearts of audiences with her beauty, grace and exceptional acting skills. But, soon got involved in multiple controversies that made her leave the showbiz and country. After staying away for more than two decades, the former actress made headlines after returning to the country in December 2024. When Mamta was away from the country, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan once shared an interesting anecdote about working with Mamta Kulkarni in the 1995 film, Karan Arjun. In a recent interview, the actress shared her experience working with the two superstars.

Mamta Kulkarni recently sat down for an interview with Indian TV, where she recalled her experience working with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan on the 1995 film, Karan Arjun. The 52-year-old actress revealed that SRK and Salman often playfully pulled pranks on her, leaving her in awkward situations. Recalling one such incident from the set, Mamta shared that once, she was sitting alone in her room while the two leading stars were shooting for a dance sequence. However, a while later, their film's choreographer, Chinni Prakash's assistant, came to her room and informed her that she had been called on the set. 

Mamta mentioned that Shah Rukh and Salman were passing by her and quietly sniggered at her. She couldn't understand and went on the set. But, when she approached the set, the choreographer informed her that she would do a particular set alone, leaving her surprised. Despite her surprise, she perfectly completed it in a single take and saw Shah Rukh and Salman laughing from the bushes. The next morning, she again gave her first shot, which was approved, and witnessed the actors laughing from the bushes. However, during their turn they had to do a step where they had to dance on their knees surrounding 5,000 people and ended up making a fumble. Recalling the incident, she said: 

"They took so many retakes that the director eventually called for a pack-up. We all ran to our rooms. I knew that last evening they played with me. I didn't want to give them the opportunity to make the choreographer assign all the steps to me. So when they ran up, so did I. As soon as I reached, Salman stopped me and shut the door on my face. That was it."

Mamta Kulkarni was paired opposite Salman Khan in Karan Arjun. Earlier, the superstar shared on Bigg Boss 7 that Mamta once reprimanded him and SRK on the set. However, the former actress clarified that Salman was rather more 'naughty' on the film's set. Mamta revealed that she has always been punctual at doing her tasks and would always reach set on time, while the Dabangg actor would tease her at this habit. Recalling her reaction, Mamta said: 

"He would always tease me, and I would be like, 'Shut up, Salman.'"

Mamta Kulkarni hails from a middle-class Marathi family and debuted with Tirangaa in 1992. She went on to work in several popular films like Karan Arjun, Baazi, Krantiveer, Waqt Hamara Hai, Sabse Bada Khiladi, and more. However, soon her name was involved in a drug case, and her relationship with underworld don, Chhota Rajan in 1998 grabbed headlines. Mamta gradually left showbiz after the release of her 2002 film, Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum. After coming to India, the former actress denied the possibility of making a comeback and became a Mahamandaleshwar in Kinnar Akhara. However, within days, she was removed from her post, and Kinnar Akhara's future with them remains uncertain.
