Manisha Koirala has been one of the most renowned actresses of the 90s. In the past few years, she has played a few roles but ensured that she left an impact on the audiences. Her latest role in the web series, Heeramandi has been something that the audience can't stop talking about. The talented actress who played the leading role of ‘Mallikajaan’ in the series, had an extensive screen presence that was tiring to shoot and promote. In her recent interview with Zoom, Manisha reveals her plans for the near future.
Manisha Koirala has gone through a busy shooting process for three years and then a hectic schedule for promoting Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi. The actress admits that she has lost the rhythm of her life and wants to focus back on her health and wellness. The iconic actress stated that she had to deal with a lot of stress ahead of the release and wants to disconnect for a while. Sharing her plans, Manisha said:
“I think I need to vamoose for a while. I need to go somewhere. I need to focus on my health. I am researching on which wellness retreat to go to.”

Manisha Koirala has received praise and accolades for her performance in Heeramandi. The actress takes the appreciation as both a professional and a personal success. For the unversed, the Company actress was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. Manisha was treated in New York with surgery and chemotherapy. By mid-2014, she had recovered from the illness. Recalling the experience, the actress shared a post on her social media writing:
“I can’t help but remember the doubts and anxiety that plagued me when I was about to start shooting. Still recovering from the dreaded C, would my body be strong enough to deal with the intense shooting schedules, heavy costumes, and jewellery, and perform a role requiring so much nuance and effortless effort?”
The Sanju actress, wore heavy costumes and jewellery while shooting for physically demanding scenes in the web series. Now, she opened up about the most challenging scene that left her content. In her Instagram post, Manisha wrote that the fountain sequence was the most physically challenging for her as she sat immersed in a water fountain for over 12 hours. She wrote:
“Even though I was beyond exhaustion by the end of the shoot, I felt a deep happiness within my heart. My body had taken the stress and remained resilient. I knew I had passed a critical physical test.”

Manisha Koirala was born into a politically influential family in Nepal. She made her acting debut with the Nepali film, Pheri Bhetaula in 1989, and featured in the Hindi drama, Saudagar in 1991. Koirala then featured in popular movies like Company, Kachche Dhaage, Khamoshi: The Musical, Dil Se, and more, before she took a break due to her health. However, the actress has made a strong comeback and received a lot of appreciation and positive reviews for her performance in Heeramandi, which released on May 1, 2024.
