Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26, 2024, and his death created a stir across the globe. From almost every Indian dropping their heartfelt tributes on social media to global leaders spotlighting his contribution, Manmohan Singh is leading all the headlines. The 13th and one of the longest-serving Prime Ministers in India's history, Manmohan Singh, is also one of the greatest economists that this country has ever produced.
From economic liberalisation to implementing the Right To Information and negotiating the India-US civil nuclear agreement, Manmohan Singh will always be remembered for his incredible contributions. Not that he has gone, but the late politician's iconic line, "History will be kinder to me than the contemporary media", is doing rounds all over the internet. Apart from being India's Prime Minister for two terms, Manmohan Singh will always be remembered as one of the most accomplished economists in Indian history.
Despite being labelled by his critics and opposition as a 'Silent Prime Minister' and 'Accidental Prime Minister', Manmohan Singh continued working to build the nation. He was one of the most sought-after politicians in Indian politics. Despite being the Prime Minister of India, his wife and children never preferred to be in the media spotlight. There are hardly any pictures of the late politician with his wife and daughters in the public domain.
Before we talk about Manmohan Singh's daughters, it's important to shed some light on the late politician's wife, Gursharan Kaur. For the uninitiated, Gursharan is a kirtan singer who hailed from Punjab's Dhakkam village (now in Pakistan). The couple got married in 1958 and welcomed three daughters into their lives. Talking about the profession of Manmohan Singh's wife, she is a renowned author and a history professor.
Manmohan Singh and Gursharan Kaur's daughter, Upinder Singh, works as a history professor and Dean of Faculty at Ashoka University. Not only this, she is also a renowned author, who has penned six books so far in her career as a professional writer. Talking about Upinder Singh's achievements, she has also served as the former head of the history department at Delhi University.

Not only this, but Manmohan Singh's daughter, Upinder Singh, also won the Infosys Prize for Social Sciences in 2009. Not everyone is aware that she is married to a famous author, Vijay Tankha, who wrote the book, Ancient Greek Philosophy: Thales to Gorgias.
Manmohan Singh's daughter, Amrit Singh, is a renowned human rights lawyer and a professor of law at Stanford Law School. Amrit has attained degrees from Yale Law School, Oxford University and Cambridge University. As a lawyer, she has championed global human rights cases and also served as the founding executive director of the Rule of Law Impact Lab.
Over the years, Amrit Singh's writings have appeared in The Guardian and The New York Times. Apart from her professional accomplishments, not much is known about her personal life.
Manmohan Singh's daughter, Daman Singh is an alumna of Delhi University's St. Stephen's College. Just like her mother, Gusharan Kaur, Daman is also a professional writer, who has penned three major books, The Last Frontier: People and Forests in Mizoram, The Sacred Grove, and Nine by Nine. Not only this, Daman has also penned her parents, Manmohan Singh and Gursharan Kaur's biography, Strictly Personal.
Talking about her personal life, Daman Singh is married to IPS officer, Ashok Patnaik, who is from the 1983 batch. For the unversed, Ashok has also served as the CEO of India's National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID). The couple is blessed with a son named Rohan. Apart from this, little is known about Daman and Ashok's personal lives. We hope all three daughters continue to make their late father, Manmohan Singh, proud by achieving further heights in their respective careers.
