Mannara Chopra Breaks Down While Holding Her Father's 'Parthiv Sharir' During His Final Rites

Priyanka Chopra's cousin, Mannara Chopra, has been going through the toughest times as her father, Raman Rai Handa, passed away at the age of 72 on June 16, 2025, in Mumbai. The news came as a shock, and Mannara, who was away for work, rushed back to her home. On June 18, 2025, the family held his last rites, and Mannara looked heartbroken. 

Mannara Chopra broke down as she carried her father's mortal remains

Mannara's father's passing away came as a shock to the entire family. During his last rites, Mannara and her sister, Mitali Handa, were seen carrying their father's mortal remains along with other family members. Mannara, who was seen in a white-hued suit, was crying as she held onto her father's parthiv sharir. Pictures and videos of Mannara and Mitali from their father's last rites were shared on Instagram. In the clip, Mannara was insisting that she would help in carrying the mortal remains of her father along with the other male members.

After the news of the actress' father's death circulated, Mannara shared official statement about the demise of the most important person in her life. She called her father the pillar of strength for their family. She wrote:

"With profound grief and sorrow, we inform the sad demise of our loving father who left us for his heavenly abode on 16/06/2025. He was the pillar of strength for our family."

For the unversed, Raman Rai Handa is survived by his wife, Kamini Chopra Handa, and two daughters, Mannara Chopra (Barbie Handa) and Mitali Handa. Kamini Chopra is the paternal aunt of Priyanka and Parineeti Chopra. Priynaka Chopra and her brother, Siddharth Chopra, also shared their heartfelt goodbye to their fufaji. Taking to her Instagram stories, "You'll always be in our hearts. Rest easy, Raman uncle (fufaji). Om Shanti." Siddharth also re-shared his cousin's statement on her father's death, and penned, "Will miss you Raman uncle."

Mannara Chopra is an Indian actress, and stated her acting journey with some advertorials with her sister, Priyanka Chopra. The acting genes run in her family. She started her journey with Telugu and Hindi films. She was born in March 1991, in Ambala Cantonment, Haryana, as 'Barbie Handa'. However, to sustain in the industry, she changed her name to 'Mannara Chopra', on the advice of her sister, Priyanka Chopra. On the other hand, her younger sister, Mitali Handa, is a fashion stylist. It is worth mentioning that Mannara completed her education from Summer Fields School, New Delhi, and then she pursued a BBA degree. 

Mannara made her acting debut with the film, Prema Geema Jantha Nai. Before entering Bigg Boss 17 and leaving a mark for herself, she had a kissing controversy. A video of her director kissing her on the cheeks during promotion of their film went viral in August 2023. However, the actress remained tight-lipped about the incident for days. But on September 5, 2023, Mannara issued a clarification. The actress defended the director and revealed that he had no bad intentions towards her. She added that at times, people don't understand what they are doing when they are excited.
