Bigg Boss 17 contestant, Mannara Chopra has been garnering much attention from the viewers ever since she entered the show. Credited to her bubbly personality and camaraderie with fellow contestant, Munawar Faruqi. Mannara has also been in the limelight for being the cousin sister of Bollywood actresses, Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra. Recently an old video caught our eye where Mannra revealed why she changed her name from Barbie Handa.
Mannara Chopra debuted in the entertainment industry in 2014 with the film, Prema Geema Jantha Na. During that time, her name was Barbie Handa, which she later changed to Mannara Chopra. In an interview, Mannara revealed that during the unofficial screening of her film, her cousin sister suggested her to change her name as the name, ‘Barbie’ doesn’t fit well with the interiors of the country. Mannara further added:
"The name, Barbie, doesn't gel well with probbly the interiors of our country. People will not connect to the name."

Taking her suggestion, Mannara made a list of possible names for her. Her sister’s name is Mitali which is why she wanted her second name to begin with ‘M’ as well. Then she selected Mannara as she liked the name and it even rhymed with Mitali. She added that the meaning of her name is 'shining'.
Meera Chopra is another cousin sister of the Priyanka, Parineeti and Mannara Chopra. In one of her recent interviews with Filmygyaan, she revealed that Mannara is a sweetheart and a real-life Barbie. She added that the name suits her well as her personality is like a ‘Barbie’ doll.

Since Mannara entered the BB 17 house, she has constantly been compared to her famous sisters, Priyanka and Parineeti Chopra. However, Mannara has clarified that she doesn’t want to be compared to them and wants to build her own identity. In one Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan, also explained to her that it’s okay to accept her association with her famous sisters and at the same time build an identity based on her capabilities.
