Manoj Bajpayee is undoubtedly one of the most talented, stalwart of an actor in Indian cinema. A recipient of numerous awards and countless accolades, the actor has carved a special place in the hearts of millions, and is fondly recognised to many for his strict and slightly rude performances on the celluloid. However, in his personal life, Manoj is just the opposite and is extremely shy and down to earth. For the unversed, the actor is married to actress, Shabana Raza and the duo is blessed with a daughter, Ava.
In an interaction with Netflix during the promotions of his upcoming film, Killer Soup, Manoj Bajpayee opened up about his wedding with Shabana Raza. The actor was asked whether he faced any family objections for marrying someone from a different faith. To this, the actor candidly mentioned that both his and his wife’s parents never had anything to say about their choice and credited them for being broad-minded. Moreover, he wittily remarked how only blunt people would try to intervene between a couple who has already committed to one another. In his words:
“There were no problems, because my parents were broad-minded and her parents were broad-minded too. That’s why we did not face any problems. Secondly, two people have to spend their life together. People who are wise, they never get in their way. People who are not wise, even God can’t help them.”

Previously, in an interview with Barkha Dutt, Manoj Bajpayee talked about how his marriage with his wife, Shabana is based on the common values they share with one another. It is not based on the distinct religions they follow. He further added that despite coming from different religious faiths, they never had any clash based on the same. He mentioned:
“I come from a Brahmin family, a feudal family. Her family had a lot of reputation and prestige to their name. But surprisingly, none of my family members ever objected to it. Never, till now. She’s a proud Muslim, and I’m a proud Hindu, but it doesn’t clash with each other.”
It was in 2006 when Manoj Bajpayee and Shabana Raza got married. While they may not be a public PDA kind of couple in real life, the duo has been quietly enjoying marital bliss of more than 19 years now. In one of his earlier interviews on the YouTube channel, Cine Desi, the actor opened up about the hidden secret behind leading a perfectly happy married life. He remarked how love is not just enough to maintain a relationship and how it is equally essential to understand one’s partner’s perspectives.

In an earlier interview with Filmfare, Manoj Bajpayee labelled his wife and former actress, Shabana Raza as the biggest critic of his work. Furthermore, he asserted that his better half rarely praises him, and added that she would only comment on his work after seeing it twice. In his words:
"Shabana rarely praises me. She's my sharpest critic. She'll give her reactions on GOW (Gangs of Wasseypur) only after she has watched it twice."
