According to Mary Kom's ex-husband, Karung Onkholer Kom's latest January 2026 interview with Hindustan Times, their children knew about their mother's alleged affair. The situation has become a significant public and social media dispute, which makes it highly likely that the kids knew about it, too. Onkholer, better known as Onler, mentioned the impact of the issue on them. The public dispute, involving accusations of financial misconduct and extramarital affairs from both sides, has generated extensive social media discussion.

Onler claimed that their oldest children were aware of the situation and were "heartbroken" and "very unhappy" with their mother's alleged affair. According to him, one of the twins even wanted to beat up the alleged lover of their mother. However, it was Onler who asked him to calm down and not take such drastic steps. He said he has taught the kids to hold on to the good memories they have of their parents, rather than the bitterness between the ex-couple in the later part of their marriage. Onler Kom was quoted by Hindustan Times as:

"I met my oldest kids recently. We spent some time together. They were heartbroken and very unhappy with their mother's alleged affair. One of them said they wanted to beat up the man. I told them to let go and focus on the happy things and memories. And that I will always be here for them, no matter what. That I would always be their father."

Onler Kom expressed his commitment to fathering his kids properly, no matter where his relationship with his baby mama, Mary Kom, stood. Both Mary and Onler have publicly expressed concern for their children's mental health and well-being, emphasising the need to shield them from the negativity and public domain scrutiny surrounding the divorce. Mary Kom had initially finalised her divorce quietly to protect her children from public attention.
