Pakistani actress, Mawra Hocane, who won the hearts of millions of Indians with her role of ‘Sarayu’ in her Bollywood film, Sanam Teri Kasam, married her soulmate, Ameer Gilani. It was on February 5, 2025, when Mawra, along with Ameer, announced the news of their nikah by posting mesmerising pictures of their wedding photoshoot at the Lahore Fort.
Dressed in a pastel mint blue-toned lehenga with purple and red tones, Mawra looked gorgeous, and her husband, Ameer, complemented her in a charcoal-coloured kurta with pathani salwar and a doshala. Sharing the pictures, Mawra penned:
“And in the middle of chaos… I found you. BISMILLAH 5.2.25.”
Mawra Hocane and Ameer Gilani’s relationship rumours had been going on for a long period. However, they have always maintained the stance of being good friends. Keeping their romance a secret, the duo mesmerised their fans with the sudden wedding. Let us read on to know their love story.
Born as Mawra Hussain, Mawra changed the spelling of her surname to Hocane while in school. Mawra, who is the younger sister of actress, Urwa Hocane, ventured into the entertainment world as a VJ. She earned her first paycheque of PKR 8000 at the age of 13. She later went on to prove her acting mettle with shows like Aahista Aahista, Ik Tamanna Lahasil Si, Sammi, Sabaat, Neem and a few others.
In 2016, Mawra made her Bollywood debut with the romantic film, Sanam Teri Kasam, opposite Harshvardhan Rane. The audience loved the actress’ simplicity and spectacular performance, and she won fans across the border.

Just like Mawra, Ameer is also a popular actor in Pakistan. Apart from being a renowned actor in Pakistan, Ameer is also a law graduate who has completed a Master of Law (LLM) degree from the prestigious Harvard Law School in the US. Ameer is also the grandson of Pakistan's former Law Minister, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Gilani.
People might have thought that Mawra and Ameer met on the sets of their Pakistani drama, Sabaat. But the duo had met each other years before it. In a throwback interview, the duo recalled their first meeting at university. Revealing how he paid for her water bottle, Mawra shared:
“Bahut hi filmy incident tha. Mai exm hall ke baahar se apne liye paani khareed rahi thi aur paani leneke baad mujhe realise hua mere paas mera wallet nahi hai. And then Ameer was there. That’s the only time we have interacted. Mai ekdum pareshaan ho gayi ki mera driver kaha hai, mai abhi kaha se apne wallet mangwaaun, tab he said its ok I will pay for you.”
Years later, Mawra and Ameer Gilani came face to face once again when they acted together in the Pakistani dramas, Sabaat and Neem. Their on-screen chemistry left their fan in awe. Throughout their dating phase, the couple maintained the stance of being each other’s best friends. But when they announced the news of their marriage, their fans got the sweetest surprise.
In the pictures posted by Mawra on her social media handle, the actress looked stunning in her wedding attire. Mawra donned a pastel-toned lehenga with golden work all over. The zari works were highlighted with pink floral embroidery. The hemline of the lehenga had colour blocks in purple, green, and red hues, which complemented the soothing colour of her lehenga. Mawra's top-styled choli made her look elegant with her mother-in-law's sheen dupatta.
She wore gold bangles and a golden haar with emeralds embedded atop it. A maang teeka, rings, jhoomar and matching earrings added stars to her look. For the unversed, Mawra's wedding lehenga was designed by Rano's Heirloom. The actress also revealed that her wedding dupatta was actually restored from her husband, Ameer Gilani's mother's ensemble, which the latter wore on her wedding day. Her wedding jewels belonged to Ameer's grandmother and were more than half a century old.
