The makers of Mayasabha have not revealed any names, but the story is based on the legendary political leaders, Nara Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Aadhi Pinisetty plays the role of 'Krishnama Naidu', who is shown to be coming from a farming background and is seen starting off his career in student politics. Well, on the other side, there is also Chaitanya Rao Madadi, who plays 'Rami Reddy' and is shown to come from a medical college background. The series, which has nine episodes, showcases how two individuals from different backgrounds are shown to take the route into politics. They are shown to be good friends and then become staunch enemies after they secure big positions in the Andhra Pradesh politics.
One can watch Mayasabha on OTT Play premium, and the famous director, Deva Katta, who created the cult classic, Prasthanam. The director, after giving an array of flop movies, has now made a comeback with Mayasabha, based on Chandra Babu Naidu and late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, who were the former chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh. Though Deva has shared that the show is based on a fictional narrative, he has showcased two buddies who were once good friends, but are now seen on opposite sides. Mayasabha is set to have multiple seasons, reportedly, and the first one showcases the rise of the titans. The subject of the show has been so interesting that all were eager to see how the director would showcase the life of Chandra Babu Naidu and Rajasekhar Reddy set in a fictional backdrop.
Well, from the time you start watching the series, you will understand that the director, Deva, has done extensive research on the same. Well, there will not be many people who will know about Andhra Pradesh politics, and the narrative of the story showcases the life of politicians since a pretty young age. It showcases why they took up the field, the insults they had to bear in their lives and what finally made them take the big leap of faith. The setting is established during the first three episodes.
The series does not shy away from showing the caste system that has been prevalent and was in a rampant stage back in the 80s. Mayasabha showcases how one caste dominates the entire scenario and how others literally revolted against the same. Deva Katta, as a director, does not take sides in the story, but the bold content surely shows off his take on how politics is done when there is total caste based dominance.
The director of Mayasabha has left no stone unturned when it came to the casting of his series. All the stars, including Sai Kumar, Chaitanya Rao Madadi, Srikanth Iyengar, among others, have delivered top-notch performances, alongside Aadhi and Chaitanya.
Seasoned actress, Divya had a phenomenal start to 2025 with her strong role as 'Soyarabai' in Vicky Kaushal's Chhava. Now, with Mayasabha, she has made her Telugu debut and has played the role of a strong politician who was shown to maintain her position in a world ruled by men.
