Popular MUA, Meenakshi Dutt has been on the radar of trolls ever since she shared her video from her son, Kartikay's wedding. For the unversed, Meenakshi hails from Delhi and is touted among the most loved make-up artists in India. Recently, her son, Kartikay Dutt, got married to Naetal Singh, who is a professional model. And for the occasion, Meenakshi opted for a similar lehenga as her bahu and got mercilessly trolled for the same. However, she seems unfazed by the negativity and even gave a befitting reply to trolls.
On November 24, 2023, Meenakshi Dutt took to her IG stories and hit back at the trolls. The make-up artist thanked her fans for the love and affection they have showered on her and her family. However, she mentioned that a section of netizens were also unhappy with the fact that she looked better than her bahu at the latter's wedding. She was heard saying:
"Humare videos pe bahut saare commenta aaye, bahut achhe achhe. Thank you so much for the beautiful compliments. And this shows the love and affection you all have for us. That is so good, makes us feel so blessed. Lekin kuchh log bahut pareshan hai ki maine apni bahu se jyada achha lehenga kyu pehna. Mai apni bahu se jyada shayad achhi lag rahi hu ya jo bhi hai."

Further in the video, Meenakshi clarified that she had no intention of stealing the limelight from her daughter-in-law and added that her family knows that she likes to keep things OTT. She even asked people not to spread hatred and mentioned that she and her family members have a good bond and understanding among themselves. Meenakshi added:
"Aisa kuchh bhi nahi hai. Bahut khoobsurat lag rahi hai, bahut achhi lag rahi hai. Wo uski choice hai jo use pehna hai aur wo meri choice hai jo mujhe pehenna hai. Meri family ko pta hai humari jo mumma hai, wo OTT hai, usko har cheez loud and lavish chahiye. Families me na ek understanding hoti hai, jo koi break nahi kar sakta, bhale hi meri daughter ho ya daughter-in-law."
Now, a Reddit user shared Meenakshi Dutt's video on the discussion platform, which irked many netizens. They rushed to the post's comment section and slammed the artist for her statements. One user commented, "Exactly. I don't know about the rest, but I always try and ask what colour the bride would be wearing and I would steer clear of that shade and colour. Wearing a bridal lehenga at your own son's wedding is tacky". Another one wrote, "Spotted: Toxic Narcissistic Mother-in-law. May God give mental strength to her daughter-in-law."

It all started when Meenakshi Dutt shared a transition video with her daughter-in-law dressed in casuals. Soon, the video showed the duo decked up in their stunning wedding looks. The bride wore a maroon and green-toned heavily embroidered lehenga, paired with a multi-layered necklace, matching earrings, an oversized maang teeka and a low bun hairdo. Meanwhile, her mom-in-law, Meenakshi, opted for a similar-looking maroon-hued lehenga and impressed everyone with her sartorial pick.
Well, speaking about Meenakshi's look, the talented artist redefined beauty and grace with her gorgeous pick of outfit for her son's wedding. Her lehenga, boasting of a muted and rather royal shade of maroon, featured zari, beads, crystal and thread work, giving it a very vintage look. The drape of a velvet dupatta added an oomph factor to her look. Speaking about her makeup, she opted for a rosy touch-up, including blushed cheeks, prominent lashes and defined contour. Statement layered neckpieces, and other vintage jewellery added stars to her overall look.
While the saas-bahu duo made for the perfect pair in their respective ethnic ensembles, Meenakshi received a huge flak from the netizens. When the video was shared on the internet, netizens flooded the comments section and expressed their disappointment over Meenakshi donning a similar-looking lehenga and heavy makeup as the bride. One user wrote, "Bride should be highlighted. It's her day." Another netizen wrote, "Bhai koi minakshi ko btao shadi uske bete ki hai uski nhi."
