Meet Anjana Om Kashyap, Botany Grad, Ex-Employee At Doordarshan, IPS Wife, And Mom Of Two

Anjana Om Kashyap is a familiar name in the world of journalism, and every day, countless Indians tune in to watch her share the latest news with them. Working as the senior journalist and managing editor (special projects) at Aaj Tak, she has gained a lot of fame and recently faced a negative impact of the same after a rogue YouTube channel impersonated her using AI generated videos.

They were spreading fake news to get profits from it. Taking swift action, the Delhi High Court directed Google to remove the same within 48 hours and disclose the details of the accused. Although the legal proceedings in the matter are underway, this alarming incident has brought the spotlight on Anjana, who had a remarkable journey to become one of the most prominent news anchors in India. 

Anjana Om Kashyap had an inspiring journey from Ranchi to the spotlight 

Anjana Om Kashyap was born and raised in Ranchi and then Bihar. She grew up in a middle-class and disciplined household where her father, Om Prakash Tiwari, was a doctor who served in the Indian Army during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Since childhood, Anjana was a bright student with inherent leadership qualities which was evident when she became a headgirl at both her schools. She pursued an honours in Botany from the University of Delhi before completing her post-graduation in Social Work. 

Anjana's journey into Journalism began in the early 2000s when she pursued a diploma in the subject from Jamia Millia Islamia creating a foundation for her bright future. She stepped into the practical world by working in Doordarshan where she worked on an investigative show, Aankhon Dekhi. Within a year, she moved to Zee News and then to News 24, which finally gave her an opportunity to fulfil her dream of becoming a news anchor during debates. However, it was at Aaj Tak where she truly thrived in her career as a news anchor and gained nationwide fame.

Anjana Om Kashyap found love in an IPS officer

Beyond the newsroom, Anjana Om Kashyap leads a grounded life as a wife and a mother. She fell in love with her now husband, Mangesh Kashyap, when they were both studying at Delhi University. He is an officer from the 1995 Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Service cadre. 

Over the years, Anjana's husband has held several significant roles, including Chief Vigilance Officer of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Delhi Police. Mangesh, who is also a Ph.D. holder in Ecological Economics and Literature has been Anjana's quiet strength. Together, they are parents to a son and daughter and amid their busy schedules, they prefer to keep their personal life away from the spotlight.
