Meet Alyy Khan, British-Pakistani Actor, Playing Nora Fatehi's Father, 'Dhondi Sahab' In The Royals

Alyy Khan is not just a prominent name in Lollywood, but the actor has also made his name in Hollywood and Bollywood. The British-Pakistani actor began working in the 1990s and is hailed for his roles in films like A Mighty Heart, Traitor, Don 2, Bahadur, Actor In Law, and Mogul Mowgli. The versatile actor was also seen in shows like The Bill, Saat Pardon Mein, Pakeezah and Mere Humsafar.

Apart from his successful professional career, the actor is happily married to Chandni Saigol, an educationist. The couple has a son, Rayyan and a daughter, Inaya. The handsome actor was recently seen in Netflix’s web series, The Royals as he played Nora Fatehi’s father, 'Nawab Dhondi Sahab'. His spectacular performance in the show won many hearts. Alyy Khan holds a British citizenship

Alyy Khan was born in Karachi, Pakistan, but after his parent’s divorce, he moved to England with his mother. At the age of ten, Alyy came to Mumbai to his maternal grandmother’s home and did all his studies in India. Since a young age, Alyy was interested in acting and also holds a diploma in film and television production from Pimlico Arts and Media College in London. Not many people know this, but Alyy also holds British citizenship.

Aly Khan once shared a passionate kiss with his crush, Kajol

Alyy Khan worked with Kajol for the OTT Show, The Trial-Love, Kanoon, Dhokha. The show was an adaptation of the American political drama, The Good Wife. For the show, Kajol broke her no-kissing policy and shared a passionate kiss with Alyy Khan. In a podcast with Pakistani YouTuber, Nadir Ali, actor, Alyy Khan talked about kissing Kajol on-screen. The handsome actor revealed that Kajol was his all-time favourite actress, and he had a huge crush on her. 

In the same interaction, Alyy also revealed that he and Kajol discussed the shot, and the director opted to shoot the scene in a posh hotel with a close set consisting of only a few crew members present. Like mature actors, Alyy and Kajol rehearsed the shot 3-4 times to avoid retakes.

Alyy Khan was unimpressed by Shah Rukh Khan's acting

Alyy Khan is not just a phenomenal actor, but he is also known for not mincing his words and calling a spade a spade. He worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Don 2 and was vocal about being unimpressed by Shah Rukh’s performance. During his candid conversation on Nadir Ali's podcast, Alyy revealed how he told Farhan about Shah Rukh’s poor performance and said:

“I was like, ‘Farhan, bata isko, yeh toh k-k-k-Kiran kar raha hai’. Kaunse school mein aagaye hain hum bhai? Ya toh hum uss 90s ke school mein khelein, ya toh aaj ke modern zamane mein. But I was giving a more grounded performance; we weren’t on the same page. I was laughing during the rehearsal, but if you do it on set, then that’s what’ll be in the film. So, I needed to bring my performance to his level.”

Alyy Khan took a dig at Nepo kids

Zoya Akhtar's much-anticipated movie, The Archies, was released in 2023. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan's daughter, Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda, late Sridevi's daughter, Khushi Kapoor, and a few others. In the film, Alyy played the role of Suhana’s father and as usual, he stole the limelight.

In a throwback video, Alyy took a dig at the nepo kids and revealed that the star kids were given a one-year workshop before shooting. In the same interview, Alyy revealed that it would be very shameless if the celebrity kids couldn't perform well despite all the preps. Speaking about the same, the actor said:

“Toh aap ek saal t-shirt aur shorts mein without any pressure, no press, no publicity, no cameras, sirf choreographer ke saath, sirf fight master ke saath, sirf dialogue coach ke saath. Toh jab ek saal ki mehenat ke baad aap camera ke samne ayenge agar aap razor blaze ki tarah sharp nhi honge toh phir toh lanat hai aap par."

Alyy Khan’s love story with Chandni Saigol

Alyy Khan is married to Chandni Saigol, and the couple is leading a happy life with their kids. Alyy, who lived in Mumbai, visited Karachi to host a musical show when he met Chandni at her house. With just a 15-minute meeting, Alyy was sure that she was the woman with whom he wanted to spend his life.

When Chandni visited Mumbai for a vacation, Alyy proposed to her for marriage. In an interview with Nida Yasir, Alyy talked about his love story and said:

“Our first meeting was in February, I went to Mumbai in April, in May, we decided to get married and we tied the knot in October. I had to resume a film shoot in Jodhpur by the 15th of the month, so we got married and I directly took her to the location on honeymoon.”
