In the world of sports, it is normally the player that grabs attention, while the silent and unconditional support from their loved ones goes unnoticed. Behind almost every cricketer, there is a partner, who has stood beside them and supported them through all their highs and lows.
One such story is of Cheteshwar Pujara and his wife, Puja Pabari. Cheteshwar Pujara is one of India's most respected cricketers, who recently shocked fans by announcing his retirement from all formats. Among several names that he thanked through his Instagram post, one name that stood out was of his wife, Puja. Read on to know everything about Puja Pabari and how the couple fell in love.
Puja Pabari was born on September 16, 1993, and she is an Indian author and entrepreneur. She was born in Gujarat, did her schooling in Mount Abu and went on to pursue MBA in Retail Management. She has also worked as an HR head at a multinational company. Reportedly, she has even completed her interior design training from Mumbai.
Currently, Puja Pabari is an entrepreneur as she owns an interior design business, The Great Eastern Caregivers. In 2025, she also published her book, The Diary of a Cricketer’s Wife: A Very Unusual Memoir. Apart from this, she is also associated with several charitable organisations.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Puja Pabari's relationship began in the traditional manner, in an arranged marriage situation, where both were introduced through their families. Pujara once mentioned that he did not have any girlfriend, so when his family told him to get married, he agreed. Interestingly, Puja didn't meet Cheteshwar, she met his father.

Puja recalled that their first in-person conversation was relaxed and friendly. Within 90 minutes of having a conversation, they became very good friends. In an interview with Sportskeeda, Puja once spoke about her first meet and said:
"And from the very first moment that we met like conversations, it was so candid, [and] honest. We were like two good friends. It was so spontaneous and that’s where everything began. (Love at first sight?) Not really (chuckles)."
On February 13, 2013, Cheteshwar Pujara and Puja Pabari got married in a traditional ceremony attended by family members. Since then, they have supported each other in all highs and lows. Puja has often described herself as the 'quieter support system', who helps Cheteshwar protect his focus. In 2018, the couple welcomed their daughter, Aditi.
Cheteshwar Pujara was born on January 25, 1988, in Rajkot, Gujarat. From a young age, he showed interest in cricket and soon he became India's standout performer at the Under-19 World Cup. He made his Test debut in 2010, and two years later, he scored 159 runs against Australia.
Gradually, he became one of the best players. He helped India win several Test matches. On August 24, 2025, Cheteshwar Pujara announced retirement from all forms of Indian cricket. In his long career, reportedly, he played 103 Tests and scored more than 7,000 runs. While sharing about his retirement, he said:
"Wearing the Indian jersey, singing the anthem, and trying my best each time I stepped on the field - it’s impossible to put into words what it truly meant. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and with immense gratitude I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket."
