Eric Swalwell has created headlines, with a woman recently making sexual assault allegations against him. The details were shared by the San Francisco Chronicle on April 10, 2026 (ET). Although the victim’s identity remains unknown, she was reportedly working for Eric when the incident happened multiple times between 2019 and 2024.

Eric Swalwell was initially interested in soccer and law

Eric Swalwell completed his higher studies at the Wells Middle School and later enrolled at the Dublin High School. Eric then graduated from the University of Maryland. He was initially attracted to soccer and law during his time at Wells. He joined the soccer team of Dublin High and later became a professional player. In 1998, Eric was told to prepare an assignment related to a shooting incident, where Alameda County Deputy Sheriff, Joh Paul Monego, was targeted. 

Eric Swalwell discontinued soccer at one point in his career

Eric Swalwell’s contributions as a soccer player and other activities helped him to obtain a scholarship to Campbell University. However, Eric discontinued his soccer career due to an injury and earned a law degree from the University of Maryland. During the same period, Eric worked on Capitol Hill and joined the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, following a bar exam where he managed to pass.

Eric Swalwell’s political career started around 20 years ago

Starting from 2023, Eric Swalwell has been the U.S. Representative for California’s 14th Congressional District. Notably, his political journey dates back to 2006, when he worked for the Dublin Heritage & Cultural Arts Commission for two years. He then served in the Dublin Planning Commission in 2008. Eric was then elected to the Dublin City Council in 2010, where he represented the city on various platforms until 2013. Eric has also been the founder and president of the Dublin High School Alumni Association since 2006.

Eric Swalwell has served in many other positions over the years

Eric Swalwell became the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee in 2015. He even participated in the investigation related to the Russian interference during the elections in 2016. Eric has also established a group called Future Forum, which includes Democratic members addressing the problems of Americans belonging to a particular age group. Eric has even formed the Critical Materials Caucus and Personalized Medicine Caucus, serving as co-chairman of both at the same time.

Eric Swalwell decided to enter the race to become the Governor of California

Back in November 2025, Eric Swalwell revealed on his website that he had entered the race to become the Governor of California. The website announcement mentioned that Eric has served as a prosecutor, a city councilman, and a U.S. Congressman. The site also said that Eric is an individual who believes in the fact of working hard and dreaming the best for the children. 

Eric Swalwell has also been involved with the entertainment industry

Eric Swalwell’s journey has not been restricted to the boundaries of the political world. He has also been associated with the entertainment industry for some time. Eric is an executive producer of the biographical drama, Words of War, released in 2025. He even contributed a lot when the documentary, Four Hours at the Capitol, entered production in 2021. Eric was an executive producer of the upcoming film, The Gun on Second Street. However, he removed his name from the film due to the labor dispute. Eric said in a statement that he joined the film after speaking to its writer about his experience with law enforcement.
