Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom was released on March 31, 2026 (ET) and explores the dark incident the former NBA star experienced. While the docuseries' title has raised some questions about his well-being, Lamar Odom is alive and doing well. However, he once came dangerously close to death. For the unversed, Lamar struggled with drug addiction for years. However, in October 2015, he overdosed on cocaine at a Nevada brothel. He suffered kidney failure, 12 strokes and six heart attacks and was placed in a medically induced coma. Lamar reflected on being alive despite his condition and told USA Today:
"When I woke up, the doctors told me I’d probably never walk and talk again. So, us having this conversation is a win. All of my doctors say I’m like a walking miracle because it’s, like, medically impossible for somebody to survive 12 strokes and six heart attacks while in a coma. And so I just take it day by day, and I’m more than grateful for life."
Lamar Odom was arrested in Las Vegas and booked for DUI after he was pulled over early on January 17, 2026. According to TMZ, he was booked on two traffic violations: driving more than 41 miles per hour over the limit and improper lane change/failure to maintain lane, the outlet reported. The incident came as a shock, especially after Lamar's history with drugs, as he was arrested for a similar incident in 2013. He has a history of struggles with drugs and alcohol. In August 2013, he was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol on the freeway in the San Fernando Valley.

According to PEOPLE, the CHP had stated back then that he showed "objective signs of intoxication"; however, Lamar refused to take a chemical test at the jail. The same year, he checked himself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre just one week after a DUI arrest in California, sources confirmed to PEOPLE.
