Govinda's Niece, Once A Popular TV Actress, Domestic Abuse Victim, Started Her Own Business At 33

Many reports stated that the actor is parting ways with his wife, and the couple is in the last stages of their divorce. It is none other than actress, Soumya Seth, who once ruled the hearts of her audience. However, she vanished from the glamour world at the peak of her career. Soumya Seth rose to fame with the serial, ‘Navya…Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal’

Soumya began her career in a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Om Shanti Om, where she played the role of a dancer. However, she started her career in TV in 2011 with the show, Navya…Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal. Her role as Navya Mishra made her a popular name in the television industry.

She was later cast in a titular role in the show, Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat. She also hosted MTV Webbed in 2013 and later portrayed the role of ‘Karuvaki’ in the show, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.

Soumya Seth left her career and settled abroad

While she was at the peak of her career, Soumya left the industry to get married to US-based actor, Arun Kapoor. The couple got married in a traditional ceremony at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort in 2017. After her marriage to Arun, Soumya quit acting and moved to the United States to settle down with Arun. The couple welcomed a son in 2017, whom they named Ayden.

Soumya Seth faced domestic violence and physical abuse in her marriage

Soon after her marriage to Arun, Soumya fell prey to domestic violence. The actress also faced physical violence even when she was pregnant. In a throwback interview, Soumya once revealed that she was completely bruised while carrying her baby. Revealing how she couldn’t look at herself in the mirror, the actress mentioned:

“I remember this one time when I was standing in front of the mirror, unable to recognise my own self. I was completely bruised. I didn't eat for several days even though I was pregnant. I couldn't dare to look at the mirror for a few days and when I finally did, I just wanted to end my life. However, I was pregnant. And that's when I felt that if I die my child would not know how much I love him/her. He would have to live without a mother for the rest of his life. I could kill myself but could never think of harming my own child. So yes, that's how my son Ayden saved my life."

Soumya Seth divorced Arun Kapoor within two years of marriage

In addition, she also stayed in the 'Safehouse' for quite some time, where women suffering from domestic abuse stay to heal the trauma in the US. As a result of the turmoil, Soumya and Arun ended their marriage and got divorced in 2019. Now, Soumya and Arun have joint custody of their son, Ayden.

Soumya Seth married for the second time

Soumya Seth has been living in the US for some time. In 2023, Soumya gave love another chance and married architect and designer, Shubham Chuhadia. Soumya met Arun when she started finding a bigger space with her son, Ayden, since he was growing up. Shubham, who is a professional architect, became her housemate. From roommates to friends, love bloomed between the two, and they got married.

Soumya Seth became a real estate agent and started her own business at 33

Soumya ventured into real estate and began her business at 33. She is a licensed realtor in Virginia. She shared a post on starting her new business and wrote:

“Growing up I have seen my grandfather and father run a business & always wanted to be a businesswoman. Real estate has allowed me to do just that. My curiosity has led to the exploration & knowledge about how homes are constructed and how location is the most important key in valuation of a home.”

Soumya Seth is the perfect example of resilience. Despite her broken marriage, domestic violence and lost career, she rebuilt herself, becoming an inspiration to millions.
