Amid the palpitating chemistry among the housewives and the superyacht crew, viewers were left stunned after Heather Gay casually admitted she had a ‘history’ with Bravo’s current heartthrob, Captain Jason Chambers. 

What started as a playful and luxurious yacht trip quickly turned into chaos when the 51-year-old reality TV star, in a drunken state, admitted she had ‘hooked up’ with the Aussie captain in the past. The latest episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, which streamed on October 28, 2025, took the ladies on a luxury yacht trip to Canouan with the Below Deck Down Under cast, featuring Captain Jason Chambers and his crew.

The sun-soaked getaway turned stormy when Heather, riding a water jet with Captain Jason, clung to his back and teased that she would “ride him like a bronco.” The flirty comment didn’t sit well with co-star Britani Bateman, who’d already confessed her crush on the captain. When she confronted Heather, things escalated — and Heather dropped a bombshell confession:

“Jason and I are friends. We have a history. We’ve f----- around before. There’s nothing there.”

Britani, visibly shocked, snapped back, “What do you mean you’ve f----- around before?” Heather, seemingly realising what she had just confessed, quickly tried to backpedal, saying, “I’m saying we’re friends. There’s latitude.” Later in her confessional, she gasped and said:

“I said that? Serious face? You can’t use that. Delete, delete!”

So, who is Captain Jason Chambers?

Jason Chambers is the handsome Aussie captain who instantly became a fan favourite after joining Below Deck Down Under in 2022. Known for his calm leadership, rugged looks, and effortless charm, Jason is the youngest captain in the Below Deck franchise, and arguably its most swoon-worthy as well. 

Before his life at sea, Jason was an athlete. The 52-year-old was a professional rugby player for Australia’s Newcastle Knights. He later became a PADI Rescue Diver and earned his captain’s license at just 28. Over the years, Chambers has captained luxury yachts across the Asia-Pacific and now stars in Bravo’s hit spin-off series, steering both crew drama and high-maintenance charter guests.

Beyond his sensational presence on reality TV, Jason is a devoted single dad and a philanthropist. His 10-year-old daughter, Saskia, is often featured on his Instagram, and the duo shares a love for scuba diving. When he is not filming, he dedicates significant time as an ambassador for Classroom of Hope, a nonprofit rebuilding Indonesian schools using recycled plastic blocks.

Captain Jason’s dating life - what’s his current status?

Jason Chambers dedicates his personal time to his only daughter, Saskia, who has already mastered scuba diving at just 10 years old. However, the captain is no longer in a relationship with Saskia’s mother, who used to be a yacht chef as well. While he has never divulged much about his ex, Jason once revealed on the Season 2 premiere of Below Deck Down Under that he learned cooking skills from her.

Jason and his ex used to work together in a property in the Philippines. Although they continue to co-parent smoothly, Jason later clarified that their professional partnership on the property has since ended, and the property has been leased to someone else. During a confessional in Below Deck Down Under season 2, the yacht captain talked about Saskia’s mother and shared:

“Saskia’s mother is fantastic. We run a business together, we co-parent, and I’ve learned a lot by watching her. So, if I can help out, I’m going to help out.”

Despite his rising fame, Jason says he’s still single. However, this is by choice. The captain admitted in an interview that he has deliberately stepped back from dating for a while to focus more on his career and family. The 52-year-old told Bravo's The Daily Dish earlier this year:

“I’m still single. I don’t think the time has ever been right. I needed to give a lot of time to my daughter over the last few years… The relationships I have had have been long, and they probably shouldn’t have lasted that long. I’m starting to realise why I’ve gone into those relationships. I’m probably trying to create something, but not be 100 percent myself. So, I have put a pause on dating for quite some time because I haven’t had the time to bring someone else into my daughter’s [life].”

Is Captain Jason planning to date anytime soon?

Well, while he didn’t give a definite answer, the captain shared that he may think of getting into a stable relationship soon. Jason admitted that in the past, he thought he was ready for a relationship after becoming a father, but soon realised his focus needed to be on his daughter. Now that the 10-year-old is growing into a bright young lady, the captain feels now’s the time to think about settling in. Earlier this year, the fan-favourite captain said:

“I think 2025 is the time to find stability — figure out where I’ll be based, get my career settled, and then make room for someone new… Now that things are falling into place, I’m preparing myself to hopefully meet someone in 2025.”
