Netflix’s royal drama, The Royals, has been dominating the headlines for its plot and unique cast of stellar performers. The show features Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar, Zeenat Aman, and Vihaan Samat in key roles. The show’s story, which features many unknown aspects of a royal family, is gaining people’s attention.

While people gave mixed reviews about the show, it’s the ensemble cast featuring Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Shweta Salve, and Neena Kulkarni that has grabbed the spotlight. One of them is Kavya Trehan, who plays the role of 'Princess Divyaranijini Singh', sister of Ishaan Khatter. Kavya is multi-talented and has donned many hats. Let us read on to know more about her.

Kavya Trehan is a Psychology graduate

Born and raised in Delhi, Kavya began her career in theatre at the mere age of nine. She went to the National School of Drama and showcased her talent since then. Kavya graduated in Psychology from Delhi University’s popular college, Lady Shri Ram and continued theatre along with her course. Kavya wished to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology, but she chose to explore her creative side instead.

Kavya Trehan’s debut film premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival

After honing her acting skills at a young age, Kavya made her acting debut in Ishaan Nair’s directorial debut film, Kaash – If Only. The film garnered a lot of attention and was premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival. The film also had screenings in New York City and Mumbai’s MAMI festival.

Apart from this, Kavya has also made her OTT appearances. She played the role of ‘Meher' in the series, Hush Hush, directed by Tanuja Chandra. She was also seen in Lionsgate Play’s Jugaadistan. She has also been a part of various TV commercials and shorts.

Kavya Trehan is an acclaimed musician

Apart from acting, Kavya has a keen ear for music. She is a part of the indie-pop duo, Mosko. The band is known for blending garage, hip-hop, and anime-inspired music. She is also an expert on French acoustic sets and has been creating ad jingles with her sister. She has also collaborated with Indian electronic musicians like Gaurav Raina and B.L.O.T. Talking about doing shows from the age of 14, she once told Elle India:

“I always wanted to make music so I started off as a drummer in my older sister’s band. Although I am only trained in violin, percussions just spoke to me. I started gigging when at 14 and somehow I developed a thing for crowds ever since. My sister would shrink away from a larger crowd but more people just make me happier.”

Kavya Trehan is an anime enthusiast and loves making her own jewellery

Kavya’s band, Mosko, has elements of anime, and it is because of the actress’ love for the same. Not only this, she crafts and paints her own jewellery. Speaking about her love for anime in the same interview, Kavya told Elle India:

“Mosko does garage, hip hop, rap music with Japanese anime influences. It’s very different from my sober acoustic side of music, yet it completely defines every aspect of my personality. Especially, the anime factor that I’ve been hooked on to since my boyfriend introduced me to it. I am actually learning to speak Japanese now.”

A singer, actress and what not, Kavya Trehan has donned many hats and her creativity knows no bounds.
