The duo met on a flight to London in 2019, where the Cheers star was a passenger. Two years later, on July 22, 2014, Kayte and Kelsey welcomed their second child, a son, Gabriel. Later, on November 14, 2016, the duo welcomed their third child, another son, Auden James Ellis. Earlier, this year, in June 2025, it was revealed that Kayte was pregnant again. The couple was photographed in London, where Kelsey was seen walking with his fourth wife, Kayte, who appeared to be pregnant. A few months later, in October 2025, the pair welcomed their fourth child, a son named Christopher. Sharing the good news on the Pod Meets World podcast while discussing his memoir about his late sister, Kelsey said:

"Just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids. It was like three days ago. Christopher that's just joined the family."
