Meet Mithun Chakraborty's Adopted Daughter, Dishani, Picked From Garbage, Debut With Hollywood Film

Mithun Chakraborty is one of the greatest actors of his time, he has been hailed as the ‘Disco King’. Recipient of three National Awards, Mithun has done over 350 films in a career spanning over five decades. Mithun made his acting debut in 1976 with the film, Mrigayaa. In 1982, Mithun Chakraborty shot to superstardom with the film Disco Dancer, and since then, there has been no looking back for him.

Mithun Chakraborty has proved his versatility as an actor in films like Agneepath, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Baazi, Veer, Dance Dance, Golmaal 3, The Kashmir Files and many more. Just like his professional life, Mithun’s personal life too garnered a lot of attention. Mithun first married actress, Helena Luke but parted ways after four months of marriage. Mithun then went on to marry actress, Yogita Bali in 1979.

Mithun Chakraborty and Yogita have four children, Mahakshay, Namashi, Ushmey and Dishani Chakraborty. However, not many people know that Dishani is not Mithun’s biological child, instead she is his adopted daughter.

Dishani was born in Kolkata, and after her birth, she was abandoned by her parents. A leading Bengali daily had once reported that a child had been abandoned by her family and left her all alone near garbage. A few passers-by had noticed her and one of them took her home. Mithun read the news the next day and immediately rushed to meet the girl.

Mithun Chakraborty instantly expressed his wish to adopt the baby to the rescuers. His wife, Yogita Bali gave her full support to him in the noble cause and took an instant liking to the baby. They completed the paperwork and took the baby home.

Dishani Chakraborty studied acting at the New York Film Academy

After bringing the girl child home, he named her Dishani, took good care of her like his own daughter, and gave her all the comfort. Dishani has always been a daddy’s girl, and Mithun dotes on her. He has not only given her a beautiful life, that she is leading currently, but also provided her everything she desired.

Just like her daddy dearest, Dishani too dreamt of becoming an actress and pursued a course in the same. After completing her early education in India, she moved to Los Angeles, USA for her further studies. Dishani graduated in acting from the New York Film Academy.

The gorgeous Dishani Chakraborty made her acting debut in Hollywood with her short film, Gift, released in 2017. Her other projects are Holy Smoke, Underpass, Why Did You Do It? and Two Faced. She was last seen in a short film, The Guest in 2022, which garnered her a lot of applause. Dishani has taken inspiration from her father and considers him her role model.

Dishani Chakraborty is currently dating Myles Mantzaris, and the couple has been open about their relationship status. Dishani often posts drool-worthy pictures with him on social media, and their camaraderie speaks volumes about their love for one another.

Mithun Chakraborty’s noble cause not only gave a new life to Dishani but also proved that he is a hero in real life, too.
