So, here comes another inspirational journey of a young girl who dreamed of becoming an IAS Officer. In fact, her secret mantra for cracking the toughest exam in India, the UPSC, was quite different and challenging, as many people in the contemporary world are heavily dependent on mobile phones and social media.
We are talking about Neha Byadwal, one of the youngest IAS officers in India, who cracked the UPSC in her 20s. Even after failing three times before clearing one of the toughest exam, UPSC, Neha didn’t lose hope and has yet again proved the credibility of the phrase, 'If there is a will, there is always a way.' So, without further ado, let’s jump deep into the inspirational journey of the Beauty with Brains.
Neha Byadwal was born on July 23, 1999, in Jaipur, Rajasthan and was raised in Chhattisgarh, where her father, Shravan Kumar, served as a senior Income Tax officer. Due to her father’s transferable job, Neha had to change schools many times while growing up. She completed her primary education in Jaipur and later pursued her studies at Kidzee High School in Bhopal, as well as in various parts of Chhattisgarh, including DPS Korba and DPS Bilaspur.
Neha completed her higher education at DB Girls College, Raipur. She was a university topper at DB Girls College, from which she graduated with degrees in subjects including History, Geography, and Economics. On the Josh Talks platform, Neha shared how, from her school days to her college days, she had to navigate diverse cultural environments. Neha also shared that in her fifth standard, she failed as she didn’t know English and revealed how she struggled hard to score well in her 10th standard finally.
Before cracking UPSC, Neha had qualified for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exam several times, but little did she want to become a government employee. So, even after three successive failures, Neha never lost hope before finally securing the All India Rank (AIR) 569 in 2023. She achieved a total score of 960, including 151 marks in the interview session. Currently, Neha is posted in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, as a Joint Magistrate.
