Meet Noah Cyrus: Addiction Battle, Toll Of Family Drama, Engagement To Pinkus And His Bond With Tish

Noah Cyrus is an American actress and singer. She rose to fame as the voice of 'Ponyo' in the English dubbed version of Ponyo in 2008. She also made an appearance in Hannah Montana alongside her sister, Miley Cyrus and father, Billy Cyrus and Doc. She soon transitioned from acting to music and made her musical debut with Make Me (Cry) in 2016, which peaked at number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, being in the limelight from a young age can be extremely difficult for any person, and when your entire family is the talk of the internet, comparisons are meant to happen. Noah has been subjected to comparisons with her sister, Miley Cyrus, for most of her youth. 

This took a toll on Noah Cyrus, and despite building an independent career with three extended plays, including Good Cry, The End of Everything, and People Don't Change, and one full-length album, The Hardest Part, for which she was also nominated for Best New Artist at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, Noah often felt the burden of the world's expectations. Who is Noah Cyrus?

Before we dive deep into the struggles of Noah Cyrus, let us take a quick look at her early life. The singer is the youngest child of Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus. She was born on January 8, 2000, in Nashville. She is the younger sister of Miley, Brandi, Braison, Trace Cyrus and half-sister of Christopher Cody.

Noah Cyrus made her acting debut at the age of 2 in Doc, where she essayed the role of 'Gracie Hebert'. She was one of the background dancers in the 2009 film, Hannah Montana: The Movie and played a small role in the original series as well. Like many child performers, Noah also attended Brighton Hall School in Burbank, California.

Noah Cyrus' struggle with addiction and recovery

Noah Cyrus has talked about her struggle with addiction on several occasions. However, it was during her interview in 2025 with PEOPLE when she thoroughly dived into the subject. The singer admitted that being in the limelight has come with its own set of struggles. She revealed that since she started her musical career in 2016, she has been struggling with mental health, which eventually led to her addiction to Xanax in 2018. 

Noah Cyrus revealed that it started when she was in a relationship with someone, but things escalated when she almost passed out during an interview in 2020. She called it her turning point in life and shared that she has been trying to stay clean and recover ever since. She told the publication:

"A lot of my career has been the journey of finding myself again. Now I know my sense of self, and I know what I want to write about and who I want to connect to. I'm at a place in my life where I don't think that people really know this part of who I am, because there have been so many different variations of myself, 'cause I was just growing up, and I was changing. But I made it out on a really positive side of, I think, a really dark time that I was going through."

As she got older, the intense scrutiny she faced from the public put her in a dark place. Noah Cyrus revealed that her latest album marks her victory over that phase, the years of darkness and reflects her renewed self in a brighter light. 

The family drama took an intense emotional toll on Noah Cyrus

Amid rumours of a feud following Noah's parents, Bill and Tish's divorce and the latter's remarriage to Dominic Purcell, the singer has dismissed all sensationalism. For the unversed, it was earlier reported that the mother and daughter were at odds after Tish's marriage to Dominic. Some reports even claimed that this was because Noah was also romantically involved with Dominic at one point.

There were also speculations that Miley was not on talking terms with Billy Ray Cyrus after his divorce from their mother and whirlwind romance with Firerose. However, Noah smashed all rumours and revealed that they are a family, and that was it. She added:

"One thing that's connected us with the entire world is music, and that's what's most important to us. Emotionally, it's draining, but it doesn't hurt us or touch us."

Noah also made a comeback with her mother, Tish Cyrus, on the Sorry We're Cyrus podcast in April 2025, and talked about her bond with her mom. The actress revealed that she still needs her mother and even joked about calling her crying on multiple occasions. As for her bond with her siblings, Noah has called Miley her role model on several instances. She even included a track written by her brother, Braison, called Don't Put It All on Me on her new album, once again proving that music truly is the bridge between them.

Noah Cyrus announced her engagement to German fashion designer, Pinkus, in June 2023. She often talks about him and gushes over his qualities of selflessness, non-judgment, and loyalty, describing her time with him as 'the greatest moment of her entire life'. While tabloids have painted a different picture of her life, she shared that in reality it looks extremely different. Noah also commented on her mother, Tish's bond with her fiance and stated:

"It’s really cute because my fiancé and my mom are really close. I love that so much because my mom hasn't been close to my past boyfriends. Now I’m with a nice, little German man."
