Michael B. Jordan’s parents, Donna and Michael A. Jordan, had no connection with Hollywood. According to a report by Vanity Fair, Michael B. Jordan’s dad, Michael A. Jordan, has a catering business. Earlier, he also worked as a supervisor at John F. Kennedy Airport in Queens, New York. Meanwhile, the Sinners actor’s mom, Donna, worked as a guidance counsellor at his middle school, as well as a teacher at his high school. According to a report by People, Michael A. Jordan hails from Los Angeles, while Donna is a native of New Jersey.

Michael B. Jordan has two siblings, younger brother, Khalid and older sister, Jamila. The Sinners fame and his older sister, Jamila, were born in Santa Ana, California. However, their family moved to Newark, New Jersey, when the Oscar-winning actor was just 2 years old. Michael B. Jordan’s younger brother, Khalid, was born in New Jersey.

Khalid was a football star. In 2006, after graduating from middle school at Link Community Charter School, Michael B. Jordan’s younger brother began playing football for the team, Malcolm X. He continued playing college football at Howard University, which earned him an athletic scholarship. Besides being a football star, Khalid is a literary manager at the representation firm M88 and reportedly joined the company in 2024.

Michael’s older sister, Jamila, is an Emmy-winning producer. Jamila has earned two Emmy Awards for her work as a producer and development executive on various television and film projects, including miniseries, Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts and historical movie, Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street. On her personal front, she is married to Reggie Theus, and they live a private life in Los Angeles. The couple shares two children, son, Lenox and daughter, Zorah.

In an interview with HuffPost, Michael B. Jordan credited his mom, Donna, for his acting career. The Sinners actor shared that at a very young age, he did modelling jobs. He mentioned that he fell in love with acting at the age of 14. He was quoted as saying:
"My mom got me started on lots of things and it just snowballed. ... I just started booking at a really young age; little small modelling jobs, to extra work, to background, to little commercials. And then I booked [Cosby] and The Sopranos and just kept going. I fell in love with it when I was probably around 14. It was the first time I really lost myself in a character and I was like, 'Wow what is that feeling? Is that what acting is?'"
