Debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s much-awaited film, Saiyaara is getting a lot of applause for its storyline. The Mohit Suri starrer is making waves at the box office and netizens have been hailing the performances of the lead actors, background score and many other aspects. The film explores an emotional take on modern love full of highs, lows and heartfelt sacrifices.
Within just five days of its release, Saiyaara made Rs. 132.25 crores and managed to make it to the list of top 100 films in Hindi cinema. Not just the lead, but every other character in the film has been garnering attention. One such actor, who has been getting spotlight is Shaad Randhawa. The actor in question is a known face and is seen in every film of Mohit Suri. Read on to know more about him and his filmy connections.
Shaad Randhawa is the son of wrestler and actor Randhawa, and actress, Malika Askari Randhawa. Malika is a well-known actress of Bollywood, who has been featured in many Hindi films like Pyaar Ka Saagar, Ek Musafir Ek Hasina, Sanjog, Bazaar and many more.
Malika is the sister of veteran actress, Mumtaz, making Shaad her nephew. Shaad in many interviews, has spoken about his close connection with aunt, Mumtaz and she being a source of encouragement for him.
Not many people know this, but Shaad is the son of wrestler, Randhawa. Shaad’s father is the brother of popular wrestler and actor, Dara Singh. Therefore, Shaad is Dara Singh’s nephew and Vindu Dara Singh’s cousin.

Shaad Randhawa is a popular name in the entertainment world. He began his acting career in 2006 with Mohit Suri’s film, Woh Lamhe. In the film, he played supporting the character of Kangana’s on-screen boyfriend. Since then, he went on to feature in every film of Mohit Suri like Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Malang, and Ek Villain Returns and in Saiyaara.
While Shaad made his presence in Saiyaara, people started asking whether the actor is related to the filmmaker. However, the filmmaker denied being related to Shaad and stated that he shares a sense of comfort with Shaad. Mohit, in an old interview revealed that he met Shaad Randhawa on the set of Tumsa Nahin Dekha, and that he is one of his trustworthy friends. In his words:
“Shaad isn’t in my films because of any compulsion or strategy. He’s there because he brings a sense of comfort and positive energy that lifts everyone around him.”
Despite not being the main lead, Shaad has made his significant presence in every film. He played the role of Aditya Roy Kapur’s best friend in Aashiqui 2. In Ek Villain, Shaad’s played the role of 'ACP Aditya Rathore'. Now, in Saiyaara, Shaad played the role of a musician named, 'Prince' and is a vital character. It is through him 'Krrish Kapoor' (Ahaan Panday) and 'Vaani Batra' (Aneet Padda) cross paths.
Talking about Shaad Randhawa’s career, the actor worked in projects like Awaarapan, Mumbai Saga and Satyamev Jayate 2 among others. Not just films, the actor has also done TV serials like Chandrakanta and Kumkum Bhagya. He was also seen in the web series, Scam 2003.
