Meet Shakira's Sons, Milan And Sasha Pique, As They Become Disney's Newest Voices In 'Zootopia 2'

Shakira is returning to the Zootopia world, and this time, she’s bringing her cubs - literally! The global superstar singer made a red carpet appearance at the premiere of Zootopia 2 in Los Angeles on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Accompanying her were two special guests, her sons, Milan and Sasha Piqué Mebarak, and the trio instantly stole the spotlight in their coordinated lavender ensembles. 

For the event, Shakira stunned in a high-neck, long-sleeve purple gown by Stella McCartney, complete with satin heels, while Milan and Sasha twinned in custom purple tuxedos, bow ties, and crisp white sneakers. But this time, the two are not merely guests; they are their mom’s co-stars! Ahead of their Disney debut, here’s everything to know about the two rising superstars.

Shakira confirms her sons have roles in Zootopia 2

Shakira is beaming with pride over her two boys. During the premiere, the 48-year-old Hips Don’t Lie singer confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that she’s reprising her role as ‘Gazelle’ in Zootopia 2, and her sons also have special roles in this film. While they were too young to be involved in the first film, which was released in 2016, they actively participated this time around. Speaking about the siblings, Shakira said:

“Oh my God, I drool over them. They know that. They were not shy at all. They were very spontaneous, and it was very easy to record their lines."

Milan and Sasha are set to voice the younger brothers of ‘Judy Hopps’, and yes, they recorded their lines with their mom. When asked whether they would like to explore more acting roles in the future, Milan and Sasha nodded enthusiastically.

Shakira’s two sons are growing up to be two brilliant gentlemen, and we can already see a bright future ahead for them. The singer’s older son, Milan, shares her deep love for music and has already begun creating his own songs. Born January 22, 2013, the 12-year-old has already written some songs on piano, mostly during his parents’ split. A fitting prodigy, Milan can play complex classical pieces with ease, and Shakira believes he may become a producer someday. Besides his studies, the teen loves to surf and splits his time between sports and studio time.

Meanwhile, Shakira’s younger one, Sasha, is a powerhouse of creativity. Born January 29, 2015, the 10-year-old is a whole package- he’s an athlete, an artist, and even a mini-designer. Sharing his dad’s athletic spirit, Sasha surfs, plays tennis, soccer, and even competes in karate. Adding to his artistic legacy, Sasha’s own design became the official cover for Shakira’s 2022 single, Monotonía.

Though they mostly steer away from the media glare, Milan and Sasha made a special appearance in Shakira’s 2023 Acróstico video, singing and playing piano. Earlier this year, the duo made another rare red carpet appearance during the 2025 Grammy Awards, joining their superstar mom in matching silver tuxes and hugging her as she accepted Best Latin Pop Album.

How Shakira’s split from Gerard Piqué affected Milan and Sasha

Though they are the happiest and brightest kids who steal hearts with their adorable cheers for their mom, behind the scenes, life hasn’t been the easiest for them either. Sasha and Milan were only 9 and 7, respectively, when they had to witness their parents’ split in 2022. Since separating from Gerard, the Waka Waka singer’s number one mission has been to shield her kids from public drama. But the kids are mature beyond their years.

It was during Shakira and Piqué’s messy separation that their eldest, Milan, resorted to songwriting to express his emotional turmoil. He penned two original songs, complete with piano and lyrics, which Shakira later described as “beautiful” and deeply personal. In a 2024 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the Whenever, Wherever singer revealed:

"They know that this is one of my own ways to heal and to express myself, through my music. Milan, I remember he wrote two beautiful songs during the whole separation process and they just—they would make anyone cry. He wrote two songs on piano and lyrics. Whenever he feels a little down, he goes to the piano and he writes music. And that is also his catharsis, his therapy."

Both Milan and Sasha live with their mom, and since the separation, the family has moved to Barcelona. After that difficult phase, Shakira is focused on giving them as normal a life as possible, strongly emphasising their emotional well-being.

When is Zootopia 2 hitting the theatres?

The wait is soon to be over for Zootopia fans, as the second film is all set to hit theatres on November 26, 2025. With Shakira returning as 'Gazelle' and Milan and Sasha making their animated debut, Zootopia 2 has already stirred a buzz as one of Disney’s biggest films of the year.
