Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to the 2007 classic film, Taare Zameen Par, is making a lot of noise since, it is the comeback movie of the actor after three years. For the unversed, the film is all set to hit the theatres on June 20, 2025. However, have you met the ‘Gundi’ of the team, Simran Mangeshkar, a.k.a ‘Golu’ from Sitaare Zameen Par. She is one of the ten rising stars of Sitaare Zameen Par, who in real life has an intellectual disability.

For the uninitiated, the super duper hit, Taare Zameen Par, gave the audience knowledge on dyslexia, a learning disability; the upcoming sequel, Sitaare Zameen Par, will shed light upon Down Syndrome. However, do you know that the character played by Simran is the exact opposite of what she is in real life? Simran Mangeshkar a.ka. ‘Golu’ is a resident of Mumbai. Although there is no information online about her age, we came to know through her IG Stories that today, May 23, 2025, is her birthday. In a recently released video by Aamir Khan Talkies, Simran’s mom, Vrushali Vileen Mangeshkar, was seen sharing how the character of her daughter on-screen is a total opposite in real life. She mentioned that Simran is a very soft-spoken and disciplined girl.

Recalling the audition for her role in Aamir Khan’s upcoming movie, Simran shared that she performed a scene from Gully Boy featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. It was the fight sequence between Alia and Ranveer in the film, Gully Boy, which Simran enacted at the time of her audition. Remember Alia Bhatt’s dialogue from Gully Boy that went viral? Yes! You guessed it right. We are talking about the famous dialogue, “Mere boyfriend se gulu gulu karegi toh dhoptungi na usko.”

Recalling the short scene from Gully Boy that she performed during the audition, Simran also shared how in just one shot she was selected for her role. In her words:

“Ek shot mein phone karke bola ki ‘ma’am she is just selected’”.

Simran Mangeshkar reveals that she has never thought of becoming an actor

In the video, Simran revealed that since her childhood, she has never thought of becoming an actor. The rising star shared that with Sitaare Zameen Par, she got a chance to be an actor. Simran was quoted as saying:

“Bachpan se maine yeh nahi socha ki mein actor banu. Aj mauka hai dastoor bhi hai, toh mein ban gayi.”

Simran Mangeshkar’s mom shares that her daughter had a dream of going to an award show

In the video, Simran’s mom, Vrushali, shared a beautiful moment that the duo had experienced recently. Recalling the lovable moment, Vrushali shared that her daughter had a dream where the rising star was going to an award and giving a speech. Vrushali also mentioned that Simran also saw receiving a trophy in her dream. So, when the rising star was asked about the speech that she has been prepping for some time now, Simran was quoted as saying:

“All the cast of the entire Sitaare Zameen Par, thank you very much guys. Yeh award dedicated to Sitaare Zameen Par rocks!”
