Meet 'Solo Mia' Star, Kevin James' Wife, Steffiana De La Cruz, An Actress, First Met On A Blind Date

Kevin James is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood, best known for making audiences laugh through his comedic performances. For those unaware, before making a name for himself on the screens, he used to perform stand-up comedy at clubs in the late '80s. Eventually, he started gaining popularity as a comedian by making appearances on several talk shows such as The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Late Late Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Rosie O'Donnell Show, among others. It is worth noting that Kevin also made it to Comedy Central's list of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians, where he was listed at No. 76.  

Coming to Kevin James' acting chops, he rose to prominence after his stint on the CBS sitcom, The King of Queens, which aired from 1998 to 2007. Kevin made his starring film debut in the 2005 romantic comedy, Hitch, where he shared the screen with Will Smith and Eva Mendes. Some of the most notable films in which he appeared since then include I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007), Grown Ups (2010), The Dilemma (2011), Becky (2020) and more. Most recently, Kevin James appeared in the romantic comedy, Solo Mia, where he plays the role of a man named ‘Matt’ whose to-be-wife leaves him at the altar. However, it is worth mentioning that in real life, Kevin is happily married to his wife, Steffiana de la Cruz. According to reports, Kevin James met his wife, Steffiana de la Cruz, for the first time in 2001 when they were set up on a blind date. Although not much is known about what they did or where they went on their date, given that the duo is married now, we can assume things went well between them. Notably, in the same year, Kevin gave an insight into their relationship while joking about a comment she made on his stand-up special, Kevin James: Sweat the Small Stuff. Kevin recounted: 

"I was on the phone with her, and I travel a lot, you know, I'm here in New York now, and she was in L.A. at the time, and that's where she lives. And I was on the phone with her, and she was like, 'God, I miss you,' and I was like, 'Yeah, I know, I miss you, too.' And she was like, 'I wish I could be there with you…If only I had a magic carpet, I'd be there in like two hours.'" 

Surprised by Steffiana's comment about the magic carpet, Kevin questioned that if she indeed had a magic carpet, there's no way she would require two hours to reach him, jokingly adding that unless she got a layover in Dallas. When Kevin asked the same question to Steffiana, her reply was even more hilarious as she confessed that she didn't want to go too fast and risk falling off the carpet. One thing that is clear from the duo's conversation is that they have a similar sense of humour.

After hitting it off and dating for a few years, Kevin got down on one knee in October 2003. Within a year after he popped the question, Kevin James and Steffiana de la Cruz tied the knot on June 19, 2004. According to reports, their wedding ceremony took place at St. Edward Catholic Church in Dana Point, California. Apart from the couple's close friends and family joining them on their big day, their wedding also featured a few celebrity guests, including Everybody Loves Raymond star, Ray Romano and Clint Eastwood.  

At the time, a guest who attended Kevin and Steffiana's wedding told People that “Kevin was very nervous” and sweating a lot. Reportedly, their wedding was followed by a reception at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach. During the same, singer, Eddie Money performed a 90-minute set, with Kevin even joining in to sing the song, Take Me Home Tonight.

One year after Steffiana and Kevin got married, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Sienna-Marie, on September 30, 2005. Two years later, they expanded their family again with the birth of another baby girl, Shea Joelle. According to a report by Parade, the couple named her after Shea Stadium, home of Kevin's favourite baseball team, the New York Mets. Finally, in April 2011, Kevin and Steffiana welcomed their first son, Kannon Valentine. The couple's family grew for the fourth time when their daughter, Sistine Sabella, was born.

Many might not be aware, but, similar to her husband, Kevin, Steffiana also has her fair share of acting experience. In the mid ‘90s, she appeared in films such as Pacific Blue and Die Gang. Later, in 2002, she also acted in Stealing Harvard. After meeting her now-husband, she and Kevin collaborated on a number of projects, also appearing together in a handful of TV shows and films. During the nine seasons of The King of Queens, Steffiana appeared on the show four times, taking on the role of a new character every time she showed up. Furthermore, she also had small roles in Kevin's movies, Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Zookeeper. Later, Steffiana shared the screen with her husband on two episodes of Kevin Can Wait.
