Veteran Indian actor and singer, Sulakshana Pandit, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the age of 71. She had been unwell for some time and complained of breathlessness before her death while being taken to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. Her cause of death was eventually declared as cardiac arrest by the doctors. Sulakshana Pandit was a prominent figure in Hindi cinema during the 1970s and 1980s, and her demise has left her family members and fans heartbroken. Amid the sad news of her passing, here's a look at her family, including her famous brothers and her net worth.

Jatin and Lalit Pandit are the younger brothers of the late actress and playback singer, Sulakshana Pandit. They are a well-known music director duo in Bollywood, celebrated for their compositions in popular films during the 1990s and early 2000s. They first gained prominence with the romantic song, Pehla Nasha, from the movie, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), and the soundtrack for Khiladi (1992). They composed music for several blockbuster films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000), and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001).
The Pandit brothers frequently collaborated with popular lyricists such as Anand Bakshi and Sameer, as well as with singers, Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, and Udit Narayan. Despite their incredible talent, they never won a Filmfare Award together. Notably, they bagged 12 Filmfare nominations as a duo, holding the record for the most nominations without a win. Fanaa (2006) marked the duo's final collaboration, after which they parted ways, citing personal reasons. After they split in 2006, the brothers pursued solo careers.

Lalit Pandit's most popular composition was Munni Badnaam Hui for Dabangg (2010), which earned him a Filmfare Award alongside Sajid-Wajid. He recently worked on the web series, Panchayat 3. Jatin Pandit has worked on films like I Am 24 and has served as a judge or mentor on several television musical reality shows, including Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. In February 2020, Jatin and Lalit reunited for a concert in Mumbai, thrilling fans.

The Pandit siblings come from a distinguished musical family. Their father was Pandit Pratap Narayan, and Pandit Jasraj, the legendary classical vocalist, was their paternal uncle. Jatin, Lalit, and Sulakshana Pandit's other siblings include actress and singer Vijayta Pandit, brothers, Mandheer Pandit, Pratap Narain Pandit, and sister, Sandhya Pandit. While Sulakshana and Vijayta made their mark as actresses and singers, Jatin and Lalit established themselves as a successful music-composing duo. Vijayta's husband, Aadesh Shrivastava, is also a popular music director.
According to analyses by Wikipedia, Forbes, and Business Insider, Sulakshana Pandit's net worth was estimated at around Rs. 443 crore (USD 5 million) as of December 11, 2023. The latest updates on her net valuation are not publicly available. Some media reports indicated that Sulakshana faced financial difficulties later on in her life, to the point that she was dependent on her sister, Vijayta Pandit, and her family.
Vijayta mentioned selling Sulakshana's earlier property and buying her a flat. She also shared that there was a time when Sulakshana couldn't live on her own due to health issues and financial challenges. The veteran star, known for both her acting roles (in Uljhan, Hera Pheri, Khandaan, etc.) and her career as a successful playback singer, has now passed away, leaving her siblings heartbroken.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to Sulakshana Pandit's family and hope they find the strength to cope with the grief of her passing.
