Superstar Chiranjeevi Reveals He Always Wanted A 'Mega Family' Like Raj Kapoor's Family In Bollywood

Superstar Chiranjeevi Reveals He Always Wanted A 'Mega Family' Like Raj Kapoor's Family In Bollywood

South superstar, Chiranjeevi recently made an appearance at the American Progressive Telugu Association (APTA) Katalyst 2025 conference in Hyderabad. At the event, the renowned actor had the opportunity to gush about his family's success. Chiranjeevi expressed his pride in being able to list his son, Ram Charan and his brother, Pawan Kalyan among his many achievements. The actor further revealed that he had always dreamt of having a 'mega family' like that of the Kapoor khandaan in Bollywood.

Chiranjeevi reveals he views his brother, Pawan and his son, Ram Charan as his 'achievements'

When Chiranjeevi broke into the South film industry with the 1979 release, Punadhirallu, he was the first from his family to do so. However, since then, several members of his family have followed in his footsteps. His brothers, Pawan and Nagababu, son, Ram Charan, nephews, Allu Sirish, Varun Tej Konidela, Allu Arjun, Vaisshnav Tej, Sai Durgha Tej, and niece, Niharika Konidela have all made their mark in the film industry. Thus, it can truly be said that the Konidela clan is one of the ruling families in South Cinema.

During his appearance at the American Progressive Telugu Association (APTA) Katalyst 2025 conference, Chiranjeevi took a moment to gush about how he viewed his brother, Pawan and his son, Ram Charan, as his own 'achievements.' Revealing how personal their successes felt to him, Chiranjeevi said:

"I spoke about my achievements here…Pawan Kalyan is my achievement; Ram Charan is my achievement; all the kids in my family are my achievements. I feel accomplished when I look at them."

Further in his speech, Chiranjeevi opened up about his lifelong dream of having a 'mega family' in the industry like the Kapoors in Bollywood. Talking about how his brother, Pawan Kalyan had reminded him of his desire to have a family like the late actor-director, Raj Kapoor, Chiranjeevi said:

"Recently, Pawan reminded me of something I said years ago. I've always wanted the Mega family to be like Raj Kapoor's. Pawan told me I believed it with such conviction that we're here today. I thanked God when a newspaper called us the Kapoor family of the south. It's only possible due to the love we received from the audience."

Chiranjeevi's family members haven't restricted themselves to acting. Several members of his family have ventured into film production. Even his own daughter, Sushmita Konidela, opted for a career in costume design within the industry. His nephew, Varun Tej Konidela tied the knot with fellow actress, Lavanya Tripathi in 2023. Most recently, there have been talks of his brother, Pawan Kalyan's son, Akira Nandan, becoming an actor. Pawan's ex-wife, Renu Desai also alluded to the same when she mentioned that she was 'waiting' to see her son, Akira, on-screen. However, she tactfully added that pursuing acting had to be his wish at the end of the day.

Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, and Pawan on the work front

On his professional front, Chiranjeevi is set to star in Malladi Vassishta's Vishwambhara, which had initially been scheduled to hit theatres during Sankranthi. The latest reports suggest that the socio-fantasy film will be released in the summer of 2025. Ram Charan is set to headline the much-anticpated Game Changer directed by Shankar. Bollywood actress, Kiara Advani will be co-starring alongside him. The film with hit screens on January 10, 2025. Chiranjeevi's brother, Pawan Kalyan, is now also serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. However, he hasn't let acting take a back seat. Pawan will next be seen in the movies, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, They Call Him OG, and Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
