Raja Raghuvanshi's murder left the entire nation shocked. Raja and Sonam got married in May 2025, and soon after, the couple left for honeymoon. However, something their families might not have imagined was that only one of them would come back home alive. In a turn of events, Sonam orchestrated the murder of her husband, Raja, with the help of her lover, Raj Kushwala and three other assailants, including Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi.. Now the latest news report has revealed that there is a new twist in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi.
According to the ongoing investigation into the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, the case has intensified, with new revelations being made almost every day. Now, a new name has emerged, Jitendra Raghuvanshi, giving the case an entirely new definition. The Meghalaya Police has so far arrested five suspects in the Raja Raghuvanshi's murder. These include Raja's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, her lover, Raj Kushwaha, and three men, who are identified as Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi.
All five accused were taken to Meghalaya on June 11, 2025, and have been remanded to an eight-day police custody. Jitendra Raghuvanshi is the person whose account was allegedly used by Sonam Raghuvanshi to make the initial payments on May 23, 2025, to the hitmen who were hired to kill Raja. When asked who Jitendra was, the accused, Sonam's brother, Govind, told the media on June 11, 2025, that Jitendra was their maternal cousin.
Govind added that Sonam Raghuvanshi's UPI account was opened under the name of Jitendra. However, in an earlier conversation with Hindustan Times, he was not able to elaborate on why the account was not opened under Sonam Raghuvanshi's own name. Jitendra's name being cropped up in the investigation has reportedly raised suspicions about Sonam making the transactions through the Hawala route after her family's business came under scanner for alleged Hawala links.
According to a report by The New Indian Express, Govind had rejected the claims of the link to Hawala. However, he admitted that Jitendra was a junior employee at their family's plywood business. He added that his account had their money which was used to make regular transactions. He was quoted as saying:

"We don’t have to do anything with hawala. False stories are being cooked up. The man Jitendra Raghuvanshi, whose name is cropping up, is my maternal cousin as well as a junior employee in our family business, who looks after loading and unloading in the godown. The account in his name actually has that money of ours which is spent on taking care of the day-to-day expenditure of the business."
Sonam Raghuvanshi's brother, Govind, visited her in-laws in Indore on June 10, 2025, and consoled the grieving family. He also apologised for his sister's alleged involvement in the killing of Raja. Govinda added that he believed Sonam was behind the murder. He also added that his family has also cut all ties with Sonam and will support Raja's family in their fight for justice. He was quoted as saying:
"I met Sonam in Ghazipur for just two minutes and questioned her intensely. Her reactions were enough to make me realise she had committed the crime."
