Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's $100 Million Deal With Netflix Comes To An End, 'No Animosity..'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave the audience several hit shows after they signed a 100 million dollar deal with Netflix in 2020. Now, that high-profile partnership is coming to an end. It has been confirmed that the deal will end in September 2025, and it won't be renewed. This deal gave audiences hit shows like Harry & Meghan, and Meghan’s lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. While this deal generated a lot of buzz, the decision to part ways shows Netflix's changing approach. 

The deal won’t be renewed after September 2025

According to reports, Netflix has decided not to renew the partnership between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, because Netflix is going forward towards a change in its content strategy. The company is leaving behind expensive and long-term contracts with celebrities and production houses. Sources like PEOPLE confirmed that there is no bitterness between the couple and Netflix, it is just a deal that has done its job. Netflix got strong viewership for their content, Harry & Meghan. The couple is still expected to work in the media industry, but now their collaborations with Netflix will be on a project-by-project basis. A source close to SUN said:

"There’s no animosity from either side. Things have just run their course."

The deal between Meghan-Harry and Netflix

In September 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their long-term partnership with Netflix, after they stepped down from royal duties that same year. With their production company, Archewell Productions, the couple aimed to create content that was informative and inspirational. The deal included plans to create documentaries, feature films, TV shows, and children's programming. It was seen as a good move by the couple to build their presence in the media, and something outside of the royal family. Reportedly, the deal between them was of 100 million dollars.

They together released a few projects. Their biggest success was in 2022, with Harry & Meghan, which showed their personal story, royal experiences, and the decision to step away. Another popular project was Heart of Invictus in 2023. In 2024, they released a sports documentary, Polo. Later, Meghan Markle also launched her lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan. The same source shared:

"Netflix were clever in that they got a hell of a lot of viewers for the first documentary series, and knew, realistically, it would prove the zenith of content from the Montecito pair. They’re not unhappy with how things turned out — they got those initial hits, and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time."

In 2018, she got married to a member of the British royal family, Prince Harry. In early 2020, the couple took a step back from their royal duties and moved to the United States. Since then, they have been working on personal projects like charity, and media work. They founded their own production house, Archewell. They even joined hands with Netflix to release a few projects together. 

Now, since their deal with Netflix is about to end, the couple is expected to continue their word in the entertainment industry. The filming of Season 2 of With Love, Meghan is completed, and will release on Netflix, sometime later in 2025. The couple is still expected to make content, and their production house can explore new partnerships. Apart from this, Meghan also launched her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
