In the second episode of her podcast, Meghan reflected on her emotional journey of motherhood.
In the second episode of her podcast, Meghan Markle was conversing with the American politician and lawyer, Reshma Saujani. While reflecting on the journey of the sensitive topic of miscarriage, which they both have experienced, Meghan asked Reshma if she was comfortable enough to talk about the topic and mentioned that she thinks one has to learn how to detach from a thing upon which she has held her hope and promise. Meghan Markle further added that one also needs to learn to be okay to let go of a few things that they planned to love. In Meghan Markle's words:
"I’ll bring this up if you are comfortable talking about it… I have spoken about the miscarriage we experienced. And I think in some parallel way, when you have to learn to detach from the thing that you have so much promise and hope for and to be able to be OK at a certain point to let something go, something go that you plan to love for a long time.”
Reshma Saujani then shared her experience of the hardship she faced for years while conceiving due to auto-immune issues. She revealed how things were tough when she faced multiple miscarriages, and how scary it became for her even to go for a checkup, as she was scared of what the doctors would say. She further talked about trying to be okay with the pain inside and moving on.
In the meantime, Meghan Markle reflected on her journey of being a mom of two. She said that she really loves to be a mom and that it's her favourite thing to do, but often it happens that she needs a break. She stated that even if she goes to take a break, she can't stop thinking about her kids and starts to go through their photos on her phone. Meghan can be quoted as saying:
"Oh my gosh, I love being a mom so much, it’s my favourite thing. But then sometimes, you’re like I just need a break, I just need a minute, but then the second you step in the other room, I’m like, ‘let me scroll through pictures of them endlessly on my phone’."
During the same conversation, Meghan further revealed how her husband often asks her to give herself a little bit of time, but she just can't trade it for anything. "And my husband is like ‘my love’ can you just give yourself a minute, why don’t you go work out, or go take a bath. And I go, ‘I know but I just want to cuddle them. It is the parenting paradigm, where it is so full on but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. But I think what’s really key about what you said is that in the pandemic, when working from home and parenting from home, completely converged - and it can feel incredibly overwhelming.”
For the unversed, Meghan Markle is a former actress, who decided to quit the spotlight after her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. Talking about staying away from the spotlight, Meghan said that when someone doesn't have power, they are not that important anymore. She mentioned that the point is to accept the fact that one should be able to let go of what's not meant to be anymore and give somebody else a chance. Talking more about the same, Meghan stated:
"But as you step out of the light you’re actually stepping into your own light in a different way and creating space for someone else to be in the light, which is probably the larger purpose of all of us being here.”
