Met Gala is one of the most anticipated fashion events, where the celebs and fashionistas put their best foot forward with their sartorial picks. Over the years, we have seen many A-listed celebs walking the red carpet while showcasing their stunning looks. However, the event has garnered a lot of limelight recently for the sudden rise in the price of its ticket.
Yes, you read that right! As per the publication Page Six, the ticket prices of the world’s most famous fashion event have been increased from 30,000 USD to a whopping 50,000 USD per person. The Met Gala is set to take place on May 1, 2023, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The steep increase of 20,000 USD in ticket prices created an outrage among the masses, who feel the increases are unjustified and absurd.

Talking about the event, it was started in 1948 to raise funds for the Museum of Art's then-newly launched Costume Institute. The first event was a dinner function with an entrance ticket worth 50 USD. As per multiple reports, in 2022, the Met Gala earned approximately 17.4 million USD. This year’s theme will be “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”
The venue and guest lists for the event are finalised. Interestingly, it is reported that Alia Bhatt is all set to make her Met Gala debut this year. The actress will be wearing a specially designed outfit by the New York-based designer, Prabal Gurung, for the event. The celebrated designer has designed ensembles for a few A-listed Bollywood actresses.

When Deepika Padukone graced the Met Gala in 2018, Prabal Gurung designed her outfit. She donned a red cardinal silk-crepe strapless gown with hand-draped silk gazar sculptural shoulder bloom and side-draped chapel train. She completed her look with red heels, sleek hair and red lipstick. She accessorised her look with Tasaki Atelier white gold, Sakura gold and Akoya pearl Nacreous earring with diamond accents.
Prabal Gurung is a Nepalese-American fashion designer, based in New York City. Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani, Radhika Merchant and many A-listed listed celebs are his clients. Prabal has also designed clothes for international figures such as Former First Lady, Michelle Obama and The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
