However, the buzz intensified after it was confirmed that Michele Obama, the former first lady of the United States, would not attend recently-elected president, Donald Trump's inauguration next week.
The reports of Barack Obama and Michelle's divorce intensified after he confirmed that he would be attending the event alone. A statement from the office of Barack and Michelle Obama revealed that the former president would be arriving alone to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremony. It can be read as:
"Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration."
This comes as a shock as it is important for former presidents and first ladies to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Former Presidents, including George Bush and his wife, Laura Bush, would also attend the ceremony.
Taking to social media handle, X, the fans of this unshakable couple raised concern. One user wrote, "In the grand tradition of political marriages, the Obamas are now apparently auditioning for their own reality show: "Divorce Court: Presidential Edition." It's like we're all waiting for the dramatic reveal, but instead of roses, they're throwing legal papers."
Another one commented, "Give them some space. Those of us who have been married for a long time know how extraordinarily difficult it is. The disappointment can feel never-ending, particularly when it comes to a man’s failure to protect his spouse." Earlier, Michelle skipped attending another official public appearance, Jimmy Carter's funeral, which also raised speculations about their divorce.
