Mika Singh's groovy tracks are the first thing that comes to mind whenever the artist's name is mentioned. However, not everyone might recall the series he produced in 2020, Dangerous. The series was Mika's first project as a producer. As such, the singer wanted to play things safe, so he opted to cast Karan Singh Grover as the male lead to keep the budget in line. The singer wanted to launch a fresh face as the female lead, but Karan's wife and actress, Bipasha Basu, insisted on playing the part.
Bipasha Basu was last seen on screen almost five years ago. The actress worked in the MX Original series alongside her husband and actor, Karan Singh Grover. However, while one might assume the experience to be a delight, it becomes a nightmare for the producer, Mika Singh. Now, recalling the same memories, Mika shared in an interview with Pinkvilla that whatever was happening with Bipasha was karma. He stated:
"Why do you think they are out of work now? God is watching everything."
In the same conversation, Mika Singh revealed that while he liked Karan Singh Grover a lot, he wanted to make a film to bring his music to the forefront. He further shared that he wanted to make a low-budget film and had asked Vikram Bhatt to write the script since he couldn't afford him as a director in his budget. He stated:
"See, I liked Karan a lot, and I wanted to back a film that would push my music to the forefront. I just wanted to make a low-budget film, around Rs. 4 crore. We roped in director Bhushan Patel, who had previously helmed Alone, which featured Bipasha in a double role."
Mika Singh further shared that he had planned to only cast Karan in the film along with another heroine, but Bipasha wanted to be part of the film. The singer revealed that the shoot took place in London, and the drama created by Bipasha ensured that he regretted his decision to get into production. He stated:
"The shoot was set in London, and the budget increased from Rs 4 crore to Rs 14 crore. And the drama created by Bipasha ensured that I would always regret getting into production. It was a team she was comfortable with, and they were playing a couple, who had to feature in kissing scenes. Suddenly, she was throwing tantrums saying she won’t do this or she won’t do that, etc."
Mika also shared that he was never late on his payment, but finishing the work with Karan and Biapsha was difficult. He added that when some out-of-work heroines are going through a hard patch, it is important to note that they should respect producers who come with opportunities. He called the producers the actor's god. They might be happy playing minuscule roles in a Dharma Productions film but won't respect small-time producers who are paying the same amount of money.
