Diljit Dosanjh has built a name for himself in the world of international music. The singer has captivated his fans with his superhit songs, successful concerts, and critically acclaimed films. The singer-actor is the pride of Punjabi music, and the success of his Dil-Luminati Tour is a testament to his passion for the art. While the entire country is proud of Diljit's achievements, singer, Mika Singh wants to credit his elder brother, Daler Mehndi, for setting the foundation stones for every Punjabi singer.
In an interview with The Lallantop, singer Mika Singh called Daler the dada ji whose struggle and hard work have helped present-day singers like, Diljit Dosanjh. Mika, during a candid conversation, shared that Diljit is doing well. However, the reason for his success was Daler Mehndi. He added that the veteran singer has increased the pride of the turban in the industry. Mika was quoted saying:
"Diljit is doing well, definitely. Ask me why? Because pehle dada ji aaye hain. Who is dada ji? Daler Mehndi. Pagdi ki shaan unke baad hi badhi hai in the industry. Before that also there were many Punjabi singers. After Daler paaji entered the industry, he worked with Mr. Bachchan also (Amitabh Bachchan). He opened a path, not only for him, but for, me and all of us. If you ask him, he will agree with me."
Mika Singh further elaborated on Daler Mehndi's contribution to the music industry by citing an example of the late legendary singer-dancer, Michael Jackson. He stated that while MJ was not alive today, he is still respected by his peers and fans. He added that people copy the late singer because they are unsure of what comes next. Mika further shared that he and Daler were there to show them what they could do. He stated:
"For example, Michael Jackson is not alive today, but we all respect him and copy his steps and style. Because we don’t know what we have to do after this. Uske aage ke liye hum dono bhai baithe hain, ki bhaiya yeh kar sakte ho tum. Hence, there should be someone in the journey to show you the way. And all new paths have been opened by Daler paaji."
In the same conversation, Mika Singh also praised Diljit Dosanjh and shared that the latter has even visited Mika’s recording studio a few times. He added that he is not friends with the singer but looks at him as a younger brother. He commends the singer for taking forward the culture and keeping the honour of the turban. He said:
"Diljit is a very good singer and I am his fan. We are not really friends but he is like my younger brother. He has recorded in my studio a lot of times. I have even heard that he even comes to record in an auto in Mumbai. Whenever we meet, we meet lovingly. I feel really good that he is taking our Punjabiyat and culture forward, and earning fame globally, keeping the honour of our turban."
