Mike, the NFL head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, met Stephanie, a former NFL cheerleader, when both worked for the Baltimore Ravens. It was in December 2024 that the couple was blessed with their first son, whom they named Jack David Macdonald. Now, Mike has been in the news after a video went viral where he revealed spending just 30 minutes with his baby boy, just on Thursdays.

A page called ML Football shared a moving video of Jack's dad, Mike Macdonald. The Seattle coach has admitted to getting just 30 minutes to an hour with his son, Jack, on Thursdays. At home at that time, he sets up a game plan, and Mike confessed that he does not get to see his son on the other days of the week. For the unversed, Mike had previously worked as a defensive coordinator when he met Stephanie, a cheerleader. Stephanie recalled that they met in October 2015 during the last season with the football team. Stephanie dated Mike after she left the Ravens following the season in March 2016. In his words:

"On Thursdays, I don’t get to see Jack throughout the week as much, so on Thursdays, which is today, I try to get home pretty quick to be with him, maybe a half-hour to an hour before he goes to bed. Then I got a setup at my house where I can go and work on the game plan. But able to spend some more time at home and be with Jack, and also, it kinda lets you get away from everything, kinda see things from a different perspective. And it keeps you fresh."

Mike did admit that he is less at home but knows that nothing is more important than kids. Netizens had mixed reactions, with one half of the audience praising Mike while others criticised him. A user on X wrote, "What a shame. Nothing is more important than your kids. #Seahawk.. what a terrible example of fatherhood! Don’t care how good your team is. Yeah, I wouldn’t be coaching anymore. Time is more valuable than money. You can never get your time back, but money can always be made anytime!" Another user wrote, "Career is apparently first over family. He must be proud. Half an hour a week… shows the sacrifices coaches make behind the scenes. Respect, Mike." Another user who was not surprised by supporting Mike shared that the coach was committed and penned:

"This is not a surprise to me. As someone who knew both Mike Mac when he was in Baltimore I'm telling you this man's commitment to being one of the best minds in football is through the roof. His wife Stephanie told me before a SNF game against Cincinnati in 2022 that he stayed up till 2 AM watching film on the Bengals offense and their WRs. Its insane. (And I hope Jesse Minter is no different here in Baltimore)."

When Mike became the Seahawks' head coach in 2024, he called his wife an absolute rockstar. She shared that she felt lucky to have joined the Seahawks' family, where she walked in, received a warm welcome, and knew this was where they were meant to be. When the couple was blessed with Jack, Mike revealed that his wife and the baby were both happy and healthy. He shared that it was a crazy statement to say out loud, but they felt blessed. Calling his wife a warrior, Mike had said:

"Man, what a woman can do is just an unbelievable thing. What a warrior she is, she’s awesome. I’ll see her later on here at the hospital, but it was an incredible night. I’m just thankful for everybody at the hospital. The doctors, nurses, those people are A-plus-plus in what they do. It’s pretty awesome, that’s what they do every day, the stuff they work through. Just really blessed, really excited, can’t wait to see him again tonight.”
