“She is not a puppy, you know.” This one statement had created a storm on the internet, and it made Shahid Kapoor’s wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor a subject of trolls and hatred. Seems like people refuse to forget Mira Rajput Kapoor's 'puppy' statement on a Women's Day interaction, wherein she had stated, “I can raise my daughter, be a good wife, and set up my home the way I like. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I wouldn’t want to spend one hour a day with my child and then rush off to work. Why did I have her then? She is not a puppy. I want to be there for her as a mother. Seeing her grow up cannot be quantified." Within no time, Mira received a lot of backlashes, especially from working women who leave their kids at home to go and work, and they don't treat their children like 'puppies'.

In an interaction, sometime back, hubby Shahid Kapoor had spoken about his wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor being subjected to the negativity from haters on social media. The 38-year-old actor had said, "First of all, there is a generational gap between Mira and me. We are 13 years apart, so we come from slightly different generations. So, the generation I come from isn't so affected by public opinion. That's weird because I am an actor but it doesn't affect me because it is not the end of the world for me. But for her, it was completely new. She got a lot of attention which she was initially very uncomfortable about. So she has learnt to get better at it. Initially, she used to be like 'why so many people are saying all this'. I spoke to her and told her that it comes with the territory." Accepting that being in the limelight will have its disadvantages, Mira Rajput Kapoor too, had opened up about being trolled. She was quoted as saying, "The internet is one platform that is accessible to everyone. People can say what they feel and it gives everyone the right to express themselves the way they want and to what extent they feel like. So, there will be opinions. It's not that everyone is going to love you. It's not something new for me. Nowadays, people receive backlash for whatever they do or say. It is the way the internet is. At some level, it is a bit sad."
To give a recap, Mira Rajput Kapoor spoke about her choice to be a home-maker and had stated earlier, “I am a homemaker and I wear this label with pride. I had a tough pregnancy and I went through those difficult five months to bring my daughter into this world. And now I want to spend every moment I can with her. There is a set of responsibilities that are on my plate and I feel at my age I have a lot more energy. My future is ahead of me. I can finish all my responsibilities and then I will have nothing in my way.” (Also Read: Saif Ali Khan On Refusing To Pose With Taimur Ali Khan, 'I Am Within My Right To Choose Not To Pose')
