Talking about his personal life, Shahid is married to the love of his life, Mira Kapoor, and they are parents to their adorable kids, Misha and Zain. Apart from being a loving wife to Shahid and a doting mom to their kids, Mira has also shone through her professional life in various aspects.
Recently, an old video of Mira Kapoor made rounds on the discussion platform, Reddit, wherein she talked about feminism. As the video began, we can see Mira saying that she loves to be at home and spend time with her daughter. Mira further stated that she wouldn't want to just rush to work after only spending one hour with her kid. She also added that she loves being a mom, and the joy of watching her child growing up cannot be quantified. Mira added:
"I love being at home, I love being a mother to my child, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I wouldn’t want to spend one hour a day with my child and rush off to work. Why did I have her? She is not a puppy, you know. I want to be there for her as a mother, seeing her grow up has, cannot be quantified.”

Going further, in the video, Mira Kapoor talked about feminism. She stated that empowerment means it gives people the idea to choose whatever they like, and it's her choice to be at home. Mira mentioned that feminism isn't something that can be tagged as man vs woman, but rather that it talks about equality. Mentioning that she feels the idea of aggression in feminism is destructive, Mira mentioned:
"Feminism isn’t woman vs man. It’s about equality. A new wave of feminism has come that is aggressive... I feel it’s destructive. There’s a new term called ‘feminazi’, which is the female equivalent of a chauvinist. I think there should be harmony between the two sexes and an equilibrium."
As soon as the old video of Mira Kapoor talking about feminism surfaced online, netizens started bombarding the comment section. While some users shared that Mira isn't wrong, others found her statement to be a bit harsh. For the unversed, this video was back in 2017, and Mira gave this interview on International Women’s Day. For her comments, the diva drew a lot of flak. However, later, Shahid Kapoor backed her and revealed that Mira's statement was basically misinterpreted. The actor clearly stated that his wife's intention was not to disrespect any other women, rather, she wanted to talk about a certain section of women who are not represented. An excerpt from Shahid's interview could be read as:
"When Mira started the conversation, she said those were her personal comments. I don’t think she meant to comment at anybody or any category of women. I think she was talking from a very personal standpoint. I think Mira is speaking for a section of women who aren’t being represented. There are times when those women feel like they should not be celebrated..by that I mean the women who may not be doing a job outside, women who might choose to be at home, have a baby, take care of that baby and consider that something important enough to do."
