Mohammed Shami Reacts To His Ugly Divorce Battle With Estranged Wife, Hasin Jahan, 'Biggest Mistake'

Indian cricketer, Mohammed Shami showed immense strength in the past few years. His heroic performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup was loved by the entire nation. However, he has not been able to perform due to his injuries. Apart from professional hiccups, his personal life's troubles also make headlines. Recently, he opened up on his divorce battle with his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan.

Recently, Mohammed Shami appeared on Aap Ki Adalat. He talked about his ugly divorce battle and stated that life teaches you a lot. He admitted that it was the biggest mistake of his life, and he doesn't blame anyone for it as it was his fate. He was quoted as saying:

"Life teaches you many things. I admit it was the biggest mistake of my life. I don’t blame anybody, it was my fate."

Further, Mohammed Shami added that it was really difficult and it keeps stinging you. As you are busy playing for the country to the best of your efforts, and then you have to divide your focus between what's happening at his home. It adds to the pressure. He said:

"It was really difficult, it pinches you. When you are playing at the highest level, you are forced to divide your focus. On one side, you are watching what is happening at home, and on the other side, you have to perform for the country. It puts you under immense pressure."

For those who don't know, Mohammed Shami was married to Hasin Jahan, who had two daughters from her previous marriage. After four years of marriage, problems surfaced in their marriage. Shami's wife, Hasin, levied some serious allegations against him. She went on to claim that he was involved in match fixing, domestic violence, adultery, dowry harassment and whatnot. This left Shami extremely hurt, and he even contemplated suicide. The couple is legally living away from each other, but their divorce is not yet finalised. A report claimed that Shami was asked to pay Rs. 1 lakh per month to Hasin Jahan for maintenance.

Hasin's first husband, Sheikh Saifuddin, also talked about his ex-wife's legal dispute with Mohammed Shami. Speaking to Zee 24 Ghanta, Sheikh stated that he wished Shami and Hasin could solve their differences and get back together. He further discussed his past relationship with Hasin, sharing that they met in 2000 and got married after two years of dating.

The couple welcomed two daughters during the course of their marriage. However, Hasin wanted to be independent and study. He added that her wish to study more wasn't accepted in their family, and soon problems started cropping up in their marital life. It was in 2010 that Sheikh and Hasin got legally divorced.
