Mohanlal is a well-known South Indian actor who has predominantly worked in Malayalam films. However, his talent is not restricted by language, and the actor has also appeared in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films. He has appeared in 400 films in his almost five decades in the film industry. The actor has built a loyal fanbase for himself over the years. Nonetheless, despite the fame, the actor has remained grounded, and his initiative on his 65th birthday is a testament to the same.
Mohanlal turned 65 on May 21, 2025, and his fans, friends, and colleagues all have flooded social media with heartfelt greetings and birthday wishes for the actor. He added that they would offer liver transplant surgeries at significantly subsidised rates. Mohanlal was quoted as saying:
"Many children in Kerala suffer from liver ailments and need transplants. This initiative aims to extend a helping hand to their families."
In the same video, Mohanlal added that they have also decided to launch a year-long anti-drug campaign. He revealed that this initiative will be called 'Be a Hero' and will be under the aegis of the Foundation. For the unversed, Mohanlal established the ViswaSanthi Foundation in 2015. The foundation implements focused programmes in healthcare, education, and socio-economic development for the underprivileged.
