South Indian actor, Mohanlal Viswanathan, commonly known as Mohanlal is one of the greatest actors in the Indian film industry. In an illustrious career spanning almost four decades, Mohanlal has received numerous accolades and major honours like Padma Shri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2019) for his incredible contribution to the cinema. Mohanlal has worked in more than 400 films in his career so far. However, some of his most unforgettable films are Rajavinte Makan, Iruvar, Company, Janatha Garage, Kireedam, Vanaprastham, Thazhvaram, Lucifer, Devasuram, Pulimurugan, Drishyam, Oppam, and the list goes on.
In terms of Mohanlal's personal life, the legendary Malayalam actor had shared in many of his interviews that the success he had achieved in his career had cost him his kids' childhood. The actor was unable to spend much time with his children, Pranav Mohanlal and Vismaya Mohanlal, and it is one of the biggest regrets of his life.

The iconic actor, Mohanlal had got married to famous producer, Suresh Balaje's sister, Suchitra Balaje, on April 28, 1988, in a lavish wedding. However, once in a rare interview, Suchitra had recalled the journey from hating Mohanlal initially to falling in love with him and eventually becoming his wife. The doting wife had shared everything about their love story.
During the launch of Mohanlal's first film, Barroz as a director, the actor had arranged a party for his industry mates and the media. It was a star-studded event as it had featured celebrities like Prithviraj Sukumaran, Priyadarshan, Sibi Malayil, Mammootty and many others. During the event, while addressing the gathering, it was Suchitra Mohanlal, who had opened up about her love story with her husband, Mohanlal. The doting wife had shared how she had hated him initially, courtesy of his villainous performance in the film, Mannjil Virinja Pookal. However, she had also admitted that her feelings for him had changed after she had watched him in Ente Mammattikuttiyammakku. Suchitra had said:
"When I saw him in the first movie 'Manjil Virinja Pookkal', I hated him. I used to hate him whenever he featured the role of a villain. But I knew that I disliked him because he was so perfect in his job. After watching 'Ente Mammattikuttiyammakku', I started to like him. Slowly, I fell in love with him and we got married. Today, he is my favourite actor."

The South Indian superstar, Mohanlal shares a close-knit bond with his son, Pranav Mohanlal and daughter, Vismaya Mohanlal, and we have witnessed it time and again through their family pictures on their respective social media handles. However, on January 28, 2020, Mohanlal's write up by the name, Pallunkumanikal had published in Mathrubhumi Daily, in which he had shared his pain of missing out on Pranav and Vismaya's special moments and important days during their childhood because of professional commitments. He had written:
"During my busy schedule as an actor, I missed my children's childhood. I failed to enjoy their childhood and never tried to know about their school days. Because I was too busy in the industry and I forgot myself with the engagements. I was running from one set to another for the shootings."
Going further in his write-up, Mohanlal had also admitted that while he was hustling in his career and had given no time to his kids, and he had never thought about the regret he would face in the future. Because at that time, he was very much into his work. However, he respects how his wife, Suchitra, used to warn him time and again about the regret that he would face in the future if he continues to miss out on their kids' childhood. He had penned:
"My wife used to tell me that there is no retake for the growth, fun and smile of the children. It will be over soon, and as a father, I will regret over missing it."
The legendary actor, Mohanlal never skips a chance to be with his kids and wife, Suchitra Mohanlal as he had learned the lesson about life, and he no longer spends most of his time in his work. We hope he continues to thrive both on professional and personal fronts.
