It was on January 12, 2009, when television soap opera, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai had premiered on Star Plus and since then, it has been reigning the TRP chart. The innocence of Akshara Maheshwari (Hina Khan) and Naitik Singhania’s (Karan Mehra) journey of love had touched the hearts of many. Their on-screen legacy was taken forward by their daughter, Naira Singhania (Shivangi Joshi) and her love journey with Kartik Goenka (Mohsin Khan). And now, it has been 11 years since Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai premiered on television and the entire cast and crew of the show is on cloud nine celebrating the success. But it is not only for the plot of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and audience’s admiration for protagonists, Akshara-Naitik and Naira-Kartik that the show grabs the headlines every now and then, but also for being Cupid for many celebrities on the sets. The lead protagonists, Naira Goenka and Kartik Goenka a.k.a. Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan too were struck by Cupid’s sharpest arrow and it was in a 2017 interview when Mohsin had admitted his love for Shivangi. In an interview with The Times of India, Mohsin had said, “Several theories have been doing the rounds, including our link-up, but we didn’t allow it to affect our friendship or work. In fact, there was nothing to talk about initially, since we were just friends. Our friendship graduated to love only recently; it’s just been a month-and-a-half. We rang in the New Year with my family. Funnily, we haven’t gone out on an official date yet, owing to our erratic schedule.”
Time and again, the reports of a rift between Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan emerge on the internet and rumours are rife that the two had parted ways. Though there has been no clarification about the same from Shivangi or Mohsin, they only maintain their ‘just friends’ stance. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Mohsin revealed what motivates him to give his best each day at work, "Our entire team of YRKKH are a house on fire on sets. The sheer respect and admiration we, especially Shivangi and I, have for each other's work help in better understanding, with great support from the team. It is this friendship and bond which motivates us to give our best each day. With over 1000 episodes now, I genuinely believe it is this team effort which has helped us stay on top."
Revealing what kind of a girl he wants to date/marry, Mohsin Khan elaborated, “If I ever date a girl, I want it to be the forever-kind. I am very romantic that way. Someday, when I finally get married, no one will be more excited than my Ammi. So, if any girl is up for the challenge of dating me my Ammi must approve.” Mohsin continued, “I have always been a shy kid right from my school days. I was very introverted. However, after I started working as an actor, I have changed a bit. Sometime back, a SpotboyE report had stated that Mohsin Khan and Shivangi Joshi had parted ways but continue to fake their real-life relationship for their show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Then came about a report from the same media portal, which had stated that Shivangi and Mohsin refused to share a vanity because of their personal differences. As per the report, apparently, Mohsin had demanded a separate vanity van during an outdoor shoot as he didn’t want to share it with Shivangi. Speaking about his equation with Shivangi Joshi and clarifying the rumours, Mohsin had stated, "I have no problems with her. It's been four years of us working together and I find her a thorough professional.”
In a 2018 interview with BizAsiaLive.com, Mohsin Khan was all praises for his co-star-cum-BFF, Shivangi Joshi and was quoted as saying, “Shivangi is of course a very natural actress. We have a different way of working because she doesn’t like to rehearse and i like to rehearse. She’s very natural when she does it and I’m very into doing my homework right. We have a different way of doing but we like to guide each other. We can be open with each other and critical about one another and that’s how we connect. That’s what helps us work together.”
In another The Times of India interview, Mohsin Khan had opened up about what made him fall for Shivangi Joshi and had remarked, “I haven’t really thought about it. I guess it’s her innocence. We are still exploring each other.
