Mona Patel Walks The MET Gala Red Carpet With A Robotic Dog With A 1000-Carat Diamond Leash

Mona Patel has once again left us all swooning with her appearance at the MET Gala 2025. The tech businesswoman was the talk of the town with her kinetic butterflies at MET Gala 2024, and this year, she brought the most adorable tech companion to the fashion event. Her sense of fashion blended with technology is truly a marvel in itself.

Netizens were extremely excited to see what the tech geniuses had in store for her appearance this year at the MET Gala. And, it's safe to say that Mona Patel did not disappoint. Mona Patel brought a fresh touch to the theme, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style', and made buzz with her attire which was not just 'tailored for her' but also 'coded for her'. The businesswoman wore a custom three-piece set by none other than the ace designer, Thom Browne, who is known for his classic tailoring. In a recent interview with Vogue, he expressed his style as 'couture drag', which has a hue of femininity.  

Thom broke the mould between the black with accents of white and added clean transitions between the two colours. The structure of the suit features strong shoulders, perked-up sleeves, a corseted bodice and a gorgeous skirt which added the illusion of an hourglass elegance. This styling is a tribute to South Asian aesthetics while keeping in line with the themes of the evening. As for why Mona opted for a suit rather than a gown, she explained to Vogue and stated:

"While other little girls were playing dress-up in their mom's heels, I was in my dad's suits, usually drowning in them, but feeling so powerful."

The white accents in the halter shirt added dimension and contrast to the smooth fabric. Mona Patel paired the look with narrow black pants, which hugged her like a glove, still creating a balance between the past and the present. However, once again, the key aspect of her look was the technical accessories. The businesswoman brought a canine companion with her. According to the reports, the robotic dog is named Vector and was developed at MIT.

Vector was not just an accessory to Mona's look; the tech dog was customised with sensors and movement patterns to match the gorgeous lady. However, that is not all. The dog came with an eye-catching leash adorned with 1000-carat emerald cut diamonds. According to a report by Vogue, Vector was designed to pay homage to Thom Browne's iconic dachshund, Hector. Mona shared about the same and was quoted as saying:

"Browne’s iconic dachshund, Hector—but fully robotic, tuxed-up, diamond-leashed, and ready to outshine me at any moment"

After the success of Mona Patel's debut in 2024, fans had their eyes wide open for what the businesswoman would do. Mona spoke about the making of her ensemble with Vouge and revealed that while she was preparing for the prestigious gala, there were 3D-printed hats, wires, and robotic parts everywhere. However, for her that was MET Gala all about, it was not just glamorous but also uninhibited.
