Mona Shourie Was Advised To Lose Weight, Have Spa When Boney Started Dating Sridevi, 'Humiliation..'

Boney Kapoor and Sridevi's marriage had always been the talk of the town, as it was always surrounded by controversies. Before Sridevi, Boney Kapoor was married to Mona Shourie. Mona was only 19 when she tied the knot with Boney Kapoor. The couple has two kids, Arjun and Anshula Kapoor. Well, everything in the family was going on fine, until it was discovered that Boney was romantically linked with Sridevi. Such news left Mona shocked and took a toll on her. It was during one of her interviews when Mona shared how painful it was for her to take the humiliation as she was pitted against a heroine.

Mona Shourie once recalled people pitting her against a heroine and how humiliating it was for her

In an old interview with DNA, Mona Shourie talked about how much affected she was with Boney Kapoor's bond with Sridevi. She shared that the humiliation was painful as people pitted her against an actress. She recalled people advising her to lose extra pounds or head to a spa. Mona stated that all of these made her realise that she needed to get up, and start from the beginning. Sharing that she expressed her wish to make her own identity to her parents, Mona said:

"The humiliation was painful because I was pitted against a heroine. I was made to feel lesser. Industry wives gave me suggestions like, ‘Why don’t you lose weight?’ or ‘Why don’t you join a spa?’ All this made me realise that I had to get up, dust myself and start walking all over again. I told my parents that I wanted to make my own identity."

Mona Shourie shared how a friend's mother's advice became a gospel for her

In the same interview, Mona Shourie shared that one of her friend's mom gave her advice, which turned out to be gospel for her during that tough time. She recalled that friend's mom saying that if they have no place left for her in their lives, then she should do the same as well.. Mona shared that this line personally felt to be an aakashwani for her, and she got to understand that it was not she who failed, but it was the relationship that she had. In Mona Shourie's words:

"'If somebody has no place in your life, then you can have no place for them in yours.’ This was my aakashwani. I understood that I had not failed – my relationship had!"

When Sridevi reportedly stayed with Mona Shourie and tied rakhi to Boney Kapoor

Sridevi was one of the phenomenal actresses in Bollywood. Throughout her career, she was linked to several actors, and one of them was Mithun Chakraborty. As per several reports, Sridevi even got married to Mithun in 1985 while the actor was already married. Reportedly, Sridevi and Mithun's marriage ended three years later in 1988. Well, while Mithun and Sridevi were romantically linked, another report surfaced that the actor had insecurities with Boney's bond to the actress, and to prove her love, she even tied rakhi to the filmmaker. This was even confirmed by Mona later that Sridevi tied Rakhi to her husband, Boney.

In a 2023 interview with Zoom, Boney Kapoor said that he felt guilty for the way things unfolded between him and Mona, but he tried to be honest with her. He added that not only Mona, but his mom was also aware of his feelings for Sridevi. Boney confirmed that Sridevi even stayed with him and Mona in their house much before they got married. It was Boney's mom who asked Sridevi to tie a rakhi on the filmmaker's wrist when she was staying with him and Mona. Boney Kapoor said:

"I do feel guilty, but I was very honest with Arjun’s mother, Mona. She was aware of the feelings I had for Sridevi, and I never denied it. Sri had stayed in the same house with her, much before we got married. My mother knew about my feelings for Sridevi, which is why she went to Sri one day and said, ‘Boney ko rakhi baandho’."
