According to a report by Only Kollywood, Mrunal, in a recent interview, has addressed the dating buzz with Dhanush. She has shut down the rumours and called Dhanush a good friend of hers. Mrunal shared that she just found the speculations to be funny. She also revealed that it was Ajay Devgn who invited Dhanush to the premiere of Son of Sardaar 2. In her words:

"Dhanush is just a good friend to me. I’m aware that a lot of news has been circulating about the two of us being linked together recently. I just found it funny when I saw it. Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him."

A source confirmed to News18 that Mrunal and Dhanush are dating. However, the alleged couple is in no mood to make their relationship official right now. Their friends are wishing for them because the duo shares common values, choices, and thoughts. The source was quoted as saying:

"Yes, it’s true that they are dating. But it’s too new and they’ve no plans of making their relationship official before the public or the media. At the same time, they’re unfazed about going out and about and being spotted. Friends are truly rooting for them as they’re quite similar and compatible when it comes to their values, choices and thoughts."

When Mrunal Thakur opened up about watching Dhanush's film

Mrunal has predominantly worked in Telugu and Hindi films. It was during an event in the south, when she met Dhanush, and reportedly, the two fell in love. Amidst their dating speculations, a past interview of Mrunal with News18 has surfaced online. In the 2023 interview, the Son of Sardaar 2 actress accepted that she enjoys watching Dhanush's movies. In her words:

"I really enjoy watching Dhanush’s movie. 'Sir' is the latest film that I watched, and I really enjoyed his performance."

When Mrunal Thakur sang a song from Dhanush’s film, Idli Kadai

In July 2025, Mrunal took to her Instagram Stories and shared a video where she was seen vibing to a peppy track from Dhanush and Nithya Menen’s film, Idli Kadai. In the clip, the Sita Ramam actress was seen promoting her film and urging fans to book tickets. When she was addressing her fans, the song Enna Sugam from Idli Kadai was playing in the background. So, she immediately started singing along with the song and enjoyed the track. While earlier it looked quite normal, after the dating speculations, Mrunal’s vibing to Dhanush’s film song seemed like a confirmation of her love for the actor.
