The filmmaker's project caught everyone's attention when he confirmed that A-listed actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam, and Saswata Chatterjee are part of his film.

According to multiple reports, Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD has a budget of Rs. 600 crore, which is another reason for the significant buzz surrounding it back in time. During the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con, Nag Ashwin confirmed that he had changed the title of his film from 'Project K' to 'Kalki 2898 AD'. It was the first time when an Indian film's teaser was premiered at San Diego Comic-Con.

For the uninitiated, Nag Ashwin was born on April 23, 1986, in Hyderabad to his parents, Jayaram and Jayanthi Reddy. The director is born into a family of doctors, as his father, mother, and sister are all doctors by profession. The 38-year-old director completed his schooling from Hyderabad's Hyderabad Public School. After his schooling, Nag Ashwin took admission to the Manipal Academy of Higher Education to pursue a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication.

In order to take his filmmaking aspirations to the next level, Nag Ashwin completed a film direction course from The New York Film Academy. After completing his degree in filmmaking, Nag Ashwin began his professional career by assisting Ajay Sastry in his film, Nenu Meeku Telusa? In the following years, he also worked as an assistant director in the films, Leader and Life Is Beautiful.

Nag Ashwin made his directorial debut in 2015 with the film, Yevade Subramanyam. It was a sleeper hit and has gained a cult following among Indians. However, Nag Ashwin's second film, Mahanati, brought him immense recognition and success. The film was a biographical drama based on the life of legendary actress, Savitri Ganesan. It was a huge responsibility for Nag Ashwin to make a biopic of an actress of such a big stature, and he fulfilled it perfectly. Building on the success of Mahanati, Nag Ashwin also directed Pitta Kathalu and worked as a producer for the film, Jathi Ratnalu.

The critically acclaimed director, Nag Ashwin is married to popular producer, Priyanka Dutt Chalasani. She is one of the most famous producers in South Indian cinema. Priyanka made her debut as a filmmaker at the mere age of 20 as she co-produced the film, Balu. She is also the founder of Three Angels Studio and her short film, Yaadon Ki Baraat, was screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

Talking about Nag Ashwin's love story, he met his wife, Priyanka Dutt Chalasani, while working on a series of advertisement projects. After getting to know each other through frequent meetings, Ashwin and Priyanka fell in love and started dating. Once, in an old interview with a news portal, Nag Ashwin revealed that once while having a conversation with Priyanka, she told him about the marriage proposals she was receiving.

When Priyanka Dutt discussed the same, she said to Nag Ashwin, "If I like anyone, I can get married to them," after which the former immediately replied, "Let's get married then." Nag Ashwin's sudden marriage proposal was accepted by Priyanka and the couple got married on December 6, 2015. In the following years, Nag Ashwin and Priyanka Dutt welcomed a baby boy, whom they had named Rishi.
